Our simulations suggest that discussion networks act as a crucial buffer against dominant media narratives, filtering out messages that conflict with local opinion climates. Full article open access here 👇 (4/4)

A key finding: simpler direct media models performed reasonably well where media bias aligned with local opinion. But where they diverged, interpersonal communication and group conformity mechanisms were essential to reproduce observed voting patterns. (3/4)
