After decades of dreaming, planning, scheming and neurosis... I finally did it. It happened, and I am the one that made it happen, and it was everything I dreamed.

By a longshot, the most common mistake people who are into politics make - from seven-figure strategists to randos offering Takes online - is overestimating how much attention normal people pay to politics, how much they know, and how deeply they think about it.

*Vastly* overestimating.

It's certainly what we would consider now a conservative message (welcome to 80s film!) of "The old ways are best, before all these fancy lazy things" but also "hating modern america is strange and dangerous".

But they flat out MURDER Deagle, the person in town who doesn't work for their lifestyle.

Interesting perspective, doesn't land with me though. Neglects two key angles:
* Gizmo as a character. (If the Mogwai represent foreign invasion, is Gizmo some sort of spy who came in from the cold?) He binds them into the story as a moral tale.
* The Gremlins as a representation of labour.
