Thanks! I do appreciate having learned the skill, while working on that awful pattern, but I had to ditch it.
I plan to try to create my own tree of life cross stitch pattern, as soon as I get my new book out the door. Until then, I have no time for crafts. But when I do, I'll be happy to share.

Oh, my! May I borrow your window?
Well, I'm glad you did! Anyone with a snowberry bush in their header is worthy of a follow. (I have several growing in my ecosystem restoration area; but none have ever had that many berries.)
I want to "like" to appreciate the comment, but I cannot like that the richness of our language is being lost! Oh, to have lived in the age of Benjamin Franklin. (That man could WRITE!)
Working on line edits for my book. Saddened by the need to chop up sentences that my editor says are "beautifully crafted, complex sentences, but beyond the likely literacy level of my intended, mainstream audience."
Book is called "Understanding Matters," so I guess I have to do it. ☹️

Is this just for one revenue stream, then? I had assumed the fee was charged against *all* book sales for the year. In any case, I can understand the problem if that is 25% of your revenue.
This seems a reasonable, little fee to discourage the free publication of floods of AI slop, in which bots generate hundreds of fake author accounts, each with one book that sells 0-1 copy before being flagged. Bots are unlikely to pay for it, tho. Might be worth the $12 to keep them out.
We only just discovered them ourselves, this year. Scattered seeds in the autumn rains. These are the first three we've ever seen.
Blueberries starting to ripen on a rain-drenched bush.
First three California bluebells to appear in a bed of wildflower greens.
Bit of blue sky peeking through the grey today, but 2.32" of rain this weekend were well worth it!
A few other blue things seen in the garden today: first signs of ripening blueberries, and first three bluebells!
Ooooh! That was exciting. Never experienced a cloud burst like that one before: Out every window, it looked as if we were standing in a dark cave, behind a raging waterfall. Glad we're at the top of a hill! 💧💧💧💧💧
Ah, but I no longer have access to manage the feeds. 😖
And apparently, they are now back. Go figure.
Are they back? They were gone for days!
Apologies to my feed-followers! The service that used to host my 3 feeds:

Sorry!
Along the edge of a sidewalk, a field of green dotted with yellow-centered, white-tipped Tidy Tips wildflowers.
Ah! a bit of rain, a bit of warmth, and the Tidy Tips have arrived! (my very favorite California native wildflower)
Thanks for sharing this video, @olivia.science. This theme is precisely why I re-read the LotR regularly: to remind me to ponder the conflict: the art of being human vs. the coercive domination of humanity by machines.
View over the waters of the Belmont Slough, from a grassy hill shaded by coast live oaks. Seabirds nesting in the distance.
Perfect view for an Easter Day bike-picnic, with a cacophony of sea birds squabling over nesting spots on the muddy shores of the SF Bay.
Luck with the sale!
Wait. What? You're painting a house? Or a picture of a house? Or a mural of houses on the side of a house?
“The deskilling, denigration, and displacement of teachers and scholars have historically been central to fascist takeovers, since educators serve as bulwarks against propaganda, anti-intellectualism, and illiteracy.”

They are indeed. We used to have a family of brush rabbits living in the sagebrush/salvia bushes on our property. They were delightful to watch, and so very helpful - coming out to mow the lawn, without being asked.
But then, the falcons moved in. We were all very sad when the bunnies disappeared.
Happy Easter, to all who celebrate!
(And thank you, @crawlieswithcri.bsky.social for sharing -- you just made my entire week!)
Glad to know about it! The wildfire tracking/air quality/emergency tracking apps I've used have always felt limited, and delayed, with missing data. Downloading it now!
I only hope this fire season will magically not be as bad as I fear.
Starting my final round of book editing: the READ-ALOUD!
Does anyone else do this? I find that when I polish the prose to roll of the tongue, it makes it easier for readers to understand. (also helps with audiobooks, and bookstore readings.)
Then a few tweaks to the index, and prepress!

LMAO
Well, that one rattled me out of deep sleep! Epicenter just a stone's throw away, and USGS claims 4.9.
Beautiful. I'll be right over. I can smell it from here.
Woohooo! Book FINISHED!
Of course, after my editing staff is through with it, it will probably need to be rewritten, but that's a tomorrow problem.
Tonight, I'm having sushi.
🥳
Brilliant! Well done.
Spent the week content coding & untangling the conceptual spaghetti of my final chapter. Finally uncovered the inspirational through line. Here it comes!
