La Laguna c'est celle qui est venue après la R21 :)

As I'm french, I remember seeing some of those in the streets of Paris when I was a kid.
It was kind of a cheap car back then. I don't think many have nostalgia of it... Which makes it even more surprising and valuable to find it in a video game :)

I tag you all as it's an easy-to-miss information. It was at the tail of Jotego's newsletter today.

The Neo Geo AES+ had already my curiosity.
But now that I know Jotego is involved, it has my attention.

Not surprised. That fast deluge of sprites, colors and animations is sugar for the eyes and the brain.
And it always will be!

PS : Night Striker Gears recently had that effect on me.

Orban, The Strongman, Lost - And Suddenly They All Look A Bit Less Undefeatable From Budapest to Westminster to Rome to Paris, Orban’s defeat punctures the myth that the global right is inevitable.

There’s a point where the “they’re inevitable” narrative just… cracks.

Orban lost - properly lost.

And suddenly a lot of other “untouchable” of the hard-right figures are looking a bit less untouchable.

Lol, I did the same this morning.

I guess we're not the only ones who had this idea 😅

... and you wanna become a pirate with such a name? Ha!

Haven’t seen Galaxy yet, so I can’t judge. After the first one, I’m just hoping for a fun time. Nothing more.

3 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Same with Mario. The first one is fine, but it took the easy route by throwing in a game reference every 30 seconds. It works as entertainment, sure. But that doesn’t make it particularly good. So yes, it could have been better.

The sequels mostly suck for sure, aside from a few great sequences here and there. So no, it’s not about the brand. It’s about whether the movie is well made or not.

3 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

Transformers is actually a good example. The first one is still one of my favorite blockbusters ever: insanely well made, and gloriously dumb fun. And it's not childhood nostalgia as you emplied: I was 27 when it released 😅

@chaz934.bsky.social Nintendo absolutely did make the movie in a way. They had control over every scene, every line, every beat.

And no, not every movie has to be a masterpiece. Even kids’ movies. They can just be fun Sunday-afternoon entertainment. Which doesn’t excuse being lazy or badly made.

Video

I enjoyed the 2023 Super Mario Bros movie. But it spends so much time reminding us of the games every 10sec that my favorite scene is the one that doesn't.

The one with Francis the dog.

For 3mns, it stops being Nintendo and becomes Tex Avery.

It’s pure gold.

Length in video games doesn't bother me.

Emptiness does.

I meant "black sheep", not "black cat" 😅

I never cared about it much, always hearing it was the black cat of the saga... until Game Sack's video last Sunday.
Now I'm sold. It looks really good.

And now your post sell it to me even a bit more.

ICYMI, Jim's point on the PS6 is actually very good too:

I watched that last evening and his point is excellent.

I would add that constraints always helped humans build art. It's part of the art.

And if AI is ok as a tool, it's not ok anymore when it takes away the creating's pleasure from a human. That's where I see the limit. And DLSS 5 does that.

I almost missed the release of Marvel Maximum Collection is out! I contributed scans of my copy of Captain America for the archive and localized interface-elements and texts. It's nice to share credits with my friends @pc98audi.bsky.social, @dark1x.bsky.social, @calistri.bsky.social and Ken Senda!

How do you feel about it?

4 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

I love that player. I own a Japanese one. The soundstage is immense with good files and headphones.

I got that model because I was sold on the UI being the last one that’s proprietary and not Android…
But I wonder if that’s really a good thing. This UI is not intuitive at all, and a bit laggy. ⬇️

He would have loved Titanic and Avatar too 😅
