The year was 1778
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
When a letter of marque came from the king
To the scummiest vessel I’d ever seen…

Lol Christianity feels so much harder to me! You're supposed to control your thoughts and feelings much more intensely ! (Yes I'm generalizing)

I feel like I'm general halakha has a decent understanding of human nature and doesn't expect people to be saints, just to try to be decent community members.

Lol. But seriously I don't think that's our thing

I want this for us but it feels like an unreasonable expectation for it to come from trauma. It can and should come from our ethical tradition.

We live in a neighborhood full of people from so many cultures, and I love it more than I can say. We're raising our kid here because this is the best childhood we can imagine.

many days in the future some twerp, possibly my own child, having just learned about America's mass of nonvoters, will quip in my earshot what could be possible if a politician could reach them.

whereupon I will immediately slap them and shout "no, leave them be. leave them the fuck be."

I've now seen several posts from Democratic US Senators and House Reps calling for Congress to return to DC, and my only reaction to seeing these is: Do it. Just get on a plane and go back to DC. The House is in Recess, not adjourned. There was a pro forma session today. Go. Lead by example.

I don’t want to hear about brave and conflicted service members I want to hear about people sacrificing their careers to do the right thing

Obviously not a substitute for Congress doing its job, but now would be a good time for Clinton, W, Obama, and Biden to say something jointly.

Thank you, Senator. You should be on your way back to DC immediately

YOU: Hi my name is [name]. I’m calling from [ZIP CODE].

YOU: Today, President Trump said that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran does not meet his deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That rhetoric is extreme, dangerous, and disqualifying.

FOR THOSE W/ DEM ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric and use every available procedural tool to stop further escalation, including support for impeachment and urgent public pressure on congressional leadership.

FOR THOSE W/ GOP ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric, press the administration and cabinet to treat this as disqualifying conduct.

YOU: Calling this what it is matters. Even if removal is difficult, elected officials should treat rhetoric like this as unfit and dangerous.

YOU: [OPTIONAL COMMENTS]
