@hannahdecker.bsky.social is a postdoc at the @ddc-sdu.bsky.social . She holds a PhD from @unidue.bsky.social, for which she analysed online political campaigning on social media and the role of personalised content. Currently, she focuses on positive effects of #digitalmedia and #medialiteracy.
@klingelhoefer.bsky.social is a PhD candidate and researcher at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. His research focuses on digital disconnection, mental heatlh, digital self-regulation, technology use at work, and intensive longitudinal methods.
Ultimately, the project aims to capture the potential positive impact of social media on #democracies, outline the role of media literacy, and identify strategies and interventions that can help make social media a tool that supports democratic values and well-informed public discourse. ❇️🌐👍

Covering politician-influencers, targeted ads, views on climate change, & digital hate speech.
Analysing the Federal election campaign 2025 in Germany, we found only few party ads on #Facebook and #Instagram. Perceived targeting was negatively associated with lower vote choice certainty. However, targeting of the preferred party did neither affect certainty nor party preference.
Yesterday, I shared the latest update on a project using a mobile tracking app to analyse political #targeting in election campaigns in collaboration with @ymeier.bsky.social and Abdul Obeid.
Today I talked about historical #VR and transportation. Lea Frentzel-Beyme, Nicole Krämer and I showed that transportation was related to higher positive and negative emotions as well as story consistent beliefs, while knowledge was not related to perceived transportation during a VR experience.
#MediaPsych25 is coming to an end and I enjoyed being back in Duisburg at @unidue.bsky.social, my academic home, with two presentations.
