The UK has indicated that it wants to link its carbon market for shipping and aviation with the EU’s.
This could pave the way towards these sectors paying for the true cost of their pollution and generate much needed revenues for green fuel and technology investment.

Good news! Global sales of electric cars rose by over 25% last year.
BUT... a not so rosy picture for carmakers selling BEVs in Europe where the market stagnated - in the absence of an EU target to meet in 2024.
It's clear that delaying the EU's CO2 rules would weaken our global competitiveness.
NEW from me: China's CO2 emissions fell ~1.6% in the first quarter and have now been flat or down for more than a year. This is the first time on record that emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand.
Reducing EU gas demand in line with RePowerEU, would allow the EU to be very picky with respect to its foreign gas suppliers.

Bonkers. £80m for 5,900 tonnes of green hydrogen, which will abate 53k tonnes of CO2. That's over £1,500 per tonne, 40x the UK carbon price! For a technology that solves no problem that biodiesel doesn't solve for 1/3 of the fuel cost and zero capex or risk.
