This was supposed to be our "drying out period". Instead we got heavy downpours and hail.

Fast forward three months and honestly its going so well I don't know why I wasn't actively doing this before. I think I've seen growth in at least 12 of 14 containers. This will be my go-to method for seed starting from now on.

Yes, they've been blooming since March and they start producing buds when there's still snow on the ground. Here's what they looked like exactly one month ago today.
Bumble bee on geum triflorum.
It's that time of year again where I find a weak bumble bee on my basement floor. A trip to the prairie smoke usually does the trick.

I feel the same way when I see people a bit south of me posting their plant photos. But this time of year all it takes is a week of warm weather to speed up the plant growth.

With any luck maybe they'll replace them with callery pear. 😆😭
Tornado warnings cancelled. This is a big storm, very loud. Heavy, heavy rain. Tornado apparently spotted by the Mitchell International Airport controllers.
I'm in a tornado warning. Again.
I took a short video when I visited the hidden cascade in the park the other day.
Some sort of interesting fungus growing on a bunch of my logs.
I leveled the left side garden bricks today. Might need a few slight adjustments but it's mainly complete. Next: adding soil to the left side garden, planting more #nativeplants, and finishing the woodchip pathway.
And another one.

I don't get too many boxelder bugs inside surprisingly, but I do get lots of brown marmorated stink bugs. There's almost always one crawling around a window somewhere in the house. 🙁
Yup. It's annoying. I've been having occasional issues with Bluesky in general lately but today its bad.
Yeah, they have a huge range across the eastern half of the country. We actually have a few opuntia species here in Wisconsin. Now I just need to throw a cage around them so the rabbits don't immediately destroy them. And I have SO many rabbits this year.
My Eastern prickly pears have arrived! And shout out to the mining bee for making it look like I staged it there.

Please, take it!
Not gonna lie, I didn't even realize there were two bees in the first photo. 👀
