Fossil fuel stocks are exploding in response to the war on Iran.
Who stands to benefit? The richest of the rich.
Who stands to lose? All of us who have to pay higher prices for energy and a new round of sellers' inflation.

We need a decency floor in America. We need a Federal Job Guarantee as a *standard feature* of the U.S. labor system.

Mandating the means to economic freedom for all creates a stronger economy – one that is more resilient to financial crises, inflation, and social ills.
With a basic understanding of how our country's public money system works, it becomes clear that the vision Randolph, Rustin, and Dr. King outlined 60 years ago in the Freedom Budget is not only possible but essential.
He saw the economic freedoms outlined in the Freedom Budget not only as foundational to human rights, but also as a "political necessity" essential to maintaining "social peace" and ultimately as a "moral commitment to the fundamental principles on which this nation was founded."
Dr. King recognized that our country was entirely capable of accomplishing great things, such as a guaranteeing everyone access to a good job and to a basic, dignified standard of living.
It was a visionary economic plan that among other things called for "full employment for all who are willing and able to work, including those who need education or training to make them willing and able." Read the full document: www.prrac.org/pdf/FreedomB...
In 1966, Dr. #MartinLutherKing Jr. along with Bayard Rustin and A. Phillip Randolph, unveiled the "Freedom Budget for All Americans".
We need a better, more ambitious message when it comes to taxation. The rich *do not* fund our public services. We do. My latest for New Internationalist.
