If you live in a city, everything around you was put there by someone who thought they were making the best decision they could at the time.

Found a bowling ball on the street.
I hope that everyone gets that same feeling that I had picking it up and imagining rolling it down the open road.

Absolute power.

Iran just reportedly hit an Oracle data center in Dubai and i can't stop thinking about how good it would feel to see my tax dollars spent firing Tomahawk cruise missiles at data centers.

I can almost respect a critic who chooses the worst pieces in the show as their favorites. Asinine takes.

Because of course they did. Infrastructure to precisely target areas was there for the taking. Fundamentally, tools for targeting individuals can target individuals the original users never intended to become targets... Because that's what the tool does - it makes targets.

It’s so cool how we’re in a large-scale military conflict and the President is spending his time building a ballroom.

This rocks. I finally know what being a Roman must have felt like.

M16 becomes the primary US Military service rifle in 1964, based off of the Armalite AR-15.
It's a distinct gun, for sure - which is why it's a little surprising to see it as a fucking Nerf rifle - FortNite branded no less.

Child’s Play, by Sam Kriss Tech’s new generation and the end of thinking

“In San Francisco the world automatically assumes that instead of wanting food or drinks or a new phone or car, what you want is some kind of arcane B2B service for your startup. You are not a passive consumer. You are making something.” —Sam Kriss

I got so mad after listening to today's Vergecast that I sat down and wrote 2,000 words.
I went though the whole of grad school never being able to focus enough to do that and I think it's some of my best writing to date.

Excited to share, it's spicy.
