We let oil barons take over the world *again*.
A shot of a very narrow flower bed, with dozens of daffodil blooms.
Spring has sprung! The daffodils in our front yard have exploded in the last 48 hours.
I was tabling for @qtlibrary.org at the MA School Library Association conference. It was encouraging to receive support and gratitude from so many librarians for the work we are doing, and likewise to be able to return that gratitude to educators who are on the front lines of book bans. #booksky
This is the kind of environment book bans create, in addition to their censorship of ideas. What have we come to when authors and illustrators are threatened? #booksky
A great discussion of what it means to be queer, and the dangers of the “normal gay” assimilationist trend.
A pastel illustration of a board game board with dice icons. The text: QT Library Friendship is Magic Game Night! Friday April 10 6–10pm Pandemonium Books & Games Cambridge MA
I’m hosting another game night for @qtlibrary.org at Pandemonium Books and Games this Friday, April 10. The theme: Friendship is Magic 🪄 with all cooperative games. I’d love to see you there!

I read the whole Dune series at like age 13… which was definitely too young.
I just remember building custom hyphenation dictionaries in InDesign at HMH so we would be matched up with AH word breaks.
In recognition of 🏳️⚧️ Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️⚧️, here’s the @qtlibrary.org book recommendations list, which I along with some fellow colleagues on the Collections team helped assemble!
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism of any kind, but in this case, it is nearly quite literally the least you can do if you claim to care about trans people.
A screenshot of an old Facebook reporting mechanism, with the “I’m in this photo and I don’t like it” option checked. Full text reads: What's going on? • It's annoying or not interesting • I'm in this photo and I don't like it • I think it shouldn't be on Facebook • It's spam
Off to #PAXEast for some tabletop fun with my sister-in-law!
I miss playing my druid. It was a 5e game, and he was a forest gnome with a rust monster as a mount.
Drop a movie that traumatized you as a kid
If you are a trans, nonbinary, or genderqueer/gender non-conforming person living in MA, this is an opportunity to share your story with someone who represents us in Washington, and hopefully be heard.
“No introspection before the early 20th century.” Yes, clearly Greek philosophers, Confucius, poets from across continents and millennia, etc., never stopped to look inward. I was going to ask “Does this man even hear himself?” but clearly, he does not.

Ho studiato l’italiano per mille giorni! 🇮🇹
My go-to:
A USA Today headline: “The real reason sunlight is increasing — and it’s not daylight savings time” accompanied by a map of the US showing daylight increases in different zones.
When I saw this headline, I thought “Do people not understand basic Newtonian physics vis-à-vis seasons?” And then I thought, horrified, “Of course people don’t understand basic Newtonian physics.”
The T is almost like a real transit system now! I have been pleasantly shocked and amazed at how much Mr. Eng has accomplished in his tenure.
“The American country's war partner, Israel, has clarified that they do not need reasons to bomb schools.”
Usually, I stand pretty united with my senators and congresswoman. In the case of COPPA 2.0, however, I cannot. The potential harm to LGBTQ+ youth, especially in this environment and under this administration, outweighs the potential benefits. @pressley.house.gov, please take care of our queer kids.
I’m sorry, but this is not a win for LGBTQ+ youth, who are more vulnerable now than ever. This piece, while from last year, explains the very valid concerns that could make life even more difficult and dangerous for queer and trans youth.

I haven’t been in Target since December 2024, and I don’t miss it.
A photograph of a CPAP machine in a portable case, with a red neoprene chin strap, a flexible hose, and a water reservoir also visible.
I’m a real bear now!
People believe the lies they want to believe.
It’s things like this that make my work at @qtlibrary.org all the more essential in times like these. (Hat tip to @hessephillips.com for the heads up.)
Side by side images of the Cranium Nebula, the left showing the near-infrared with a faint bubble and an amber cats-eye like structure inside, and the right showing the mid-range infrared, with the bubble much more blue and violet, and the cereal structure looking like an exposed brain with a ring of dust around it.
#NASA just released some images from the #JWST of the Cranium Nebula. Absolutely stunning!
