We've got offsite backups too and we've tested them after learning the hard way many years ago! Happy it was 'just an annoyance' (and time sink).

I see you. My NAS dying is one of my greatest fears. I too had to replace UPS recently.

A set of screenshots from DEEP SPACE NINE. An old Klingon throws his arms around Dax and shouts "Curzon, my beloved old friend!" Dax returns the hug and says "I'm Jadzia now." The Klingon grabs her shoulders, smiles, and says "Jadzia, my beloved old friend!"
Star Trek figured this out thirty years ago. It's not hard. Even an old, drunk Klingon got it.

A path abruptly ending at a grass field. A nearby tree and treeline are in view. The path has a solid line to separate for direction, and the path is for shared use for bicycling and walking. The signs for direction and usage are printed clearly on the path. But it remains a path to nowhere.
Good time to post this one again.. what where they thinking..
I spent a big chunk of the pandemic reading 2,500 years of historical biographies, summarizing them for the comedy, and posting them as Twitter threads. With Twitter dead, people have wanted an easy way to read them, so here is that website: europeanbios.com
I wanted to call my cuties Hack and Slash (after Re:boot at the time) decided they might try and live up to those names so did not go through with that.
Highly recommend!
Congratulations Kevin! Well deserved and I am happy I found you a long time before that big number!
I was wondering if you would be publishing a book at some time too. I got some by 'Moon' via Kickstarter (Editions Caurette). Drizzle got published at A6 sketchbook size. I would love something like that with your work too.

Wouldn't it be great if trending only contained subjects you're interested in (aka do not show me sports stuff).
I wrote about some things I'm struggling with in the technology industry, preceded by an appreciation for folk music.
Thank you for your words, Salma. I feel this so deeply and from the comments it is clear that there are many of us. Very relatable and I do worry about future work. I've found myself stepping away from the computer to do more tactile things. I keep a sketchbook now.
Wag the Dog. If you have never seen it, well.. I guess we are currently living through it.
I use a set of solidteknics (over 10 years) and love them to bits. I also use cast iron pans, due to weight only the smaller ones. Love the 10" Skillet from Prepd - it is machined and totally smooth. Both of these brands come pre-seasoned. I have a Comal from Victoria for pancakes, eggs and bread.

Look, if not for Bluesky, you'd have no idea who Jeremy is. I think that settles any question of its relevance.
It sure seems like when we have our basic needs met, and don't have to hustle to survive, humans will almost always choose to create art.
And there is a lot of evidence that when a society decides to honor and promote art and artists, everyone who lives there is measurably happier.

So sorry to hear you need to wait so long for your appointment. I know how not feeling well can affect mental well-being. Hope things turn for the better soon, John.
After abandoning all streaming services I've returned to listening to radio and loving it. So happy that arrow.nl is unrestricted anywhere in the world.

The book was first published by A Book Apart in 2017 but it holds up! It covers web accessibility for designers, developers, content folks, and really everyone who works in tech.
