I didn't take any photos with newly found friends or friends from the Internet. Mostly was too busy either preparing my army the day before the tournament, playing in my first tournament of @onepagerules.bsky.social, or working here in the hobby lounge.
I spent a good chunk of time here at Fort Wappel because I was truly inspired. I felt invigorated by the creativity and dedication to finishing up the last piece.
People who kindly share stories and advice with the others around them while working on their personal projects. Hours of laughter, anguish, frustration, and joy.
Four rows of tables, set up with a puppy pad at each station and a two pronged hobby lamp shared between a pair of stations. An entire city block of tables filled with people most hours of the convention.
Photograph was taken horizontally to showcase the space being used for the painting lounge at Adepticon. Adepticon took place in the Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. The southern hallway of the first floor was set up with long narrow tables to be used for any hobbying at the event for free. Four rows of tables for the length of a city block. At each individual station, there was a puppy pad taped down to the surface to help with paint jar spills. Between each pair of stations, a two armed lamp was set up. Each arm had the ability to change color temperature, brightness, and which parts of the lamp lit up. In this photograph, dozens of people are seated at the stations. Their gear, hobbying equipment, and miniature models are ready, being made ready, or being painted.
I barely took photos at @adepticon . I took some photos of the displays of contest winners, competition pieces, and the armies on display for tournaments. This one sums up my experience the best.

Just finished adding color to some of my paint bottle toppers. 24 colors were mixed in paint, 24 tints were made from those colors, and the inks were the first run.

Sarah Spaceman, one of the video interviewees, recommended using THOSE Stores as a resource for the tactile and physical characteristics of fabrics. Especially since sewing and other textile based hobbies need a sense for how they work.

It's the sad truth that they bought out a large number of their competition or forced local businesses out of business. I'm not saying they weren't bad, but when they were the only one left out of all of those, what's left in their wake? Nothing, or very few places.

When I went to Joann for the last time, none of the supplies I would need were there. I'm not surprised that the paints were gone. I grabbed some more paintbrushes and that was all I could get. Here is my only photo from my last visit to Joann. It felt too sad to lose such a staple.
Thank you so much for making this video, Lizard Leigh. It is and was incredibly sad to have lost such a tangible place for crafting. Shortly before the liquidation, I was trying to learn a new hobby, I picked up some Liquitex paints.
