Will you join me on Off-World with David Eicher as I interview Pranvera Hyseni about her many astronomical adventures?

Tell me; do you ever get tired of gazing up at the Milky Way and understanding the immensity of the universe you are a part of? A beautiful Death Valley image from Chris Cook. Happy weekend.
Sometimes a killer shot of the Lagoon and Trifid nebulae is a good way to start the day. That day is today. Tony Hallas, bravo!
Check out this incredibly cool video of solar activity captured by Mark Johnston on March 21 — just really beautiful activity on our home star that keeps us alive on this little blue planet.
Will you join me on my brand new YouTube channel to explore stars, rocks, and the meaning of the cosmos?

Check out this new image of the Medusa Nebula, Abell 21, in Gemini. Robert Eckheart and Scott Dearinger created this image of the object, which is an unusual planetary nebula lying some 1,500 light-years away. Enjoy!
Not a surprise it can be imaged in broad daylight. I have yet to image M42 without blowing out the Trapezium. 🤨
Currently floating through the Great Square of Pegasus, Comet C/2025 R2 PANSTARRS now shines at about 5th magnitude. Its long tail was captured brilliantly by Chris Schur on April 9 as it stretched over more than 10° of sky. Catch this comet now!
They said it couldn’t be done, and so he did it anyway . . . Chris Schur has imaged the Trapezium, the group of stars within the Orion Nebula, in the daytime. Check out this amazing shot made with a 10-inch scope at 3 PM MST, and give Chris some props for this amazing image!
Check out my new Off-World with David Eicher interview with Garik Israelian, founder and director of the Starmus Festival. We talk about the festival’s past, present, and future, and the wonderful plans we have cooked up . . .

Here’s a real rarity: Frank Dibbell has imaged Alves 2, a strange nebula in Auriga that was discovered by Filipe Alves in 2013. Poorly studied as yet, it is not yet well understood. Enjoy!
A lone sailing rock stands on the floor of Death Valley as circumpolar stars trail overhead. A dramatic new image from the photographer Chris Cook — enjoy!
Check out my pal Carlos Hernandez’s rendering of the Moon and Earth in homage to what the Artemis 2 astronauts are currently experiencing on this historic day. A beautiful work, Carlos!
IC 405, the Flaming Star Nebula, is one of the deep-sky gems of Auriga. It is a large star-forming region lying 1,500 light-years away and contains the 6th-magnitude bluish variable star AE Aurigae. Chris Schur’s portrait shows it magnificently.
Destination of our astronauts, the Moon was captured in lovely fashion a few days ago by David Abbou. Godspeed to the brave distant travelers.
Here’s another really nice shot from Nathanael Martin — the Horsehead Nebula in Orion and surrounding region. Notoriously difficult to observe visually, the dark nebula is a great photographic target. Enjoy!
Check out this beautiful Calcium-K Image of the Sun taken by Mark Johnston on March 27. It shows the lower chromosphere with magnetic plage and chromosphere mottling. Enjoy!
The Milky Way rises over the Racetrack Playa in Death Valley, California. The playa is famous for stones skipping across the dry lake bed and leaving their telltale tracks. A beautiful image by Chris Cook! Enjoy.
This striking wide-field shot of the Seagull Nebula, IC 2177, shows one of the winter sky’s large, relatively obscure star-forming regions. Nathanael Martin captured the object, which lies in Canis Major at a distance of 3,650 light-years. Enjoy!
Thinking deeply about John Eicher today, a day that would have been his 105th birthday. He was one of a kind. Best friend, professor of organic chemistry, Manhattan Project scientist, great historian, and the kindest man you could ever meet. Photo taken in Oxford when John was 95, a decade ago.
A few days ago I had a wonderful 50-minute long conversation with Brian Malow, the Science Comedian. Did we have fun!! We may have solved many of civilization’s problems. You can see the interview here:

My pal Carlos Hernandez, a skilled artist, has produced this beautiful rendering of the surface of asteroid 16 Psyche, as seen by the spacecraft of the same name that will encounter it in 2029. Studying this mixed metal and silicate world will add to our knowledge of the early solar system.
Nathanael Martin has created a really wonderful mosaic of the area of the Lagoon and Trifid nebulae in Sagittarius, not far from the direction if the galactic center. Happy Friday!
Emission nebula NGC 2359 in Canis Major, nicknamed Thor’s Helmet, was here captured fantastically by Nathanael Martin. The central, brightest bubble component is powered by the fierce radiation of an embedded Wolf-Rayet Star. Enjoy!
One of the principal emission nebulae of the winter sky, the Rosette Nebula in Monoceros, is here captured beautifully by Nathanael Martin. Enjoy!
A hidden gem in the constellation Orion is the so-called Raspberry Nebula, which consists of Sharpless 2-263 (emission) and Van den Bergh 38 (reflection) components. Chris Schur has recently captured this rarely imaged nebular complex.
Scott Dearinger’s image of the Moon shows our celestial neighbor on April 5 of last year — a wonderful, colorful portrait. Enjoy.
Here’s another fantastic scene from Chris Schur looking into the Taurus Molecular Cloud, with NGC 1555, Hind’s Variable Nebula, at center, just north of the Hyades. The area is awash with nebulae and dusty clouds. Enjoy!
John Vermette’s portrait of the Milky Way over Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Arizona captures the beauty of the West and of the sky really remarkably. Enjoy!
Check out this recent image of sunspots captured by Mark Johnston, reminding us that our star is very active. Enjoy!
