a man standing in front of the eiffel tower holding something in his hand Alt: a man standing in front of the eiffel tower holding something in his hand, holding it up in the photo as though he were holding it in his palm.

Here's a fact you can't un-know:

The strongest organism on the planet, pound for pound, is Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

The bacterial pathogen that causes Gonorrhea can 'lift' 100,000X its own body weight. That's like a human lifting the Eiffel Tower.

Let's explore how the heck we can even know that.

Neo-Nazis have shut down the entire federal funding office for social and behavioral sciences so they can spread election, war, and health disinformation without accountability, and we have to suffer the final indignity of the tongue-in-cheek lie we might be able to debate them into decency

This is what has me the most pissed off right now, the absolute hypocrisy of universities in this moment!

1 week ago 6 1 0 0

The idea that soft money positions couldn't be supported by a university in today's environment is a total lie. But it's no suprise to me-Wash U wouldn't even let a pre-tenure professor under intense pressure pause teaching for a semester "because the parents". There is always an excuse.

Universities need to look in the F’ing mirror. It took a lot of people telling themselves “there’s nothing we can do” to let this happen.

“. . . growing divide between how much universities say they value interdisciplinary research and how poorly their internal structures are set up to reward it.”

Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Request to Congress

This makes me sick 🤮

" ... a strategic alignment of resources in a constrained fiscal environment while eliminating woke and weaponized grant programs that previously funded radical DEI projects."
