Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.

We asked people who lived in homeless encampments that were cleared out in city “sweeps” to write about what object was the hardest for them to lose.

Some progressives & Democrats need to stop justifying refusing to vote or 3rd party voting by saying Biden "didn't do anything."
He did a whole damn lot. Facts matter. And so does a young liberal SCOTUS justice who will protect civil rights for decades.

Democracy Docket is not sponsoring a party to celebrate Donald Trump. It won't send people to a dinner in his honor.

Seems to me like Trump is desperately begging Iran to sign a replica of the Obama JCPOA he tore up. All for the low low price of thousands dead, global instability, high energy prices, and a toll on ships through the once-free strait of Hormuz.
For the record, for anyone who’s forgotten, it’s sheer madness for a president to contradict himself nearly every day. It’s profoundly wrong that we can’t trust the veracity of a single thing that he says.
I can just hear him now... And God said to Jesus; our favorite president, donald trump, will be cheated out of the 2020 election - and I was.
Trump yesterday: Iran better sign a deal by Tuesday or I’m blowing up power plants and bridges!
Trump today: I’m in no rush to make a deal. Time is on my side.
I’ve been rural all my life, but I have been organizing in rural Missouri for a decade now.
I can tell you this, I have never been more hopeful than I am for the November election.
We must use US taxpayer dollars to backstop the UAE
Which is facing economic problems caused by the war Trump started and doesn't know how to win
A war encouraged by leaders of the UAE
Who have given hundreds of millions in bribes to Trump, his family, and associates
If you believe a war criminal on the run from the ICC and a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and financial fraudster (who is most likely also a pedophile) are waging a moral and just war in the Middle East right now, I have some bad news for you.
You’re an idiot.
Kash Patel was always unqualified to be FBI Director. He needs to resign. Now.
Peter Schiff: The most likely explanation for Trump's Truth Social lies about Iran on Friday, is market manipulation. If so, Trump insiders must have made billions. The next likely possibility is that Trump is either delusional, incompetent, or a combination of both. Either way it's not good.
Latest in @theatlantic.com The Ukrainians are now longer pretending that Donald Trump's USA is their friend. Their honesty is important as they seem to understand how much Trump is helping Putin and how important it is that Europe stick together. Gift Link. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Ossoff: I don’t know who placed those trades, but I’ll tell you this: the SEC better find out. And if they won’t, when you elect this new majority in Congress and you give us gavels and subpoenas, we will.
Good morning!
Since Trump was re-elected, Forbes estimates—
💰His net worth is up $2.1 billion, to $6.4 billion
💰Eric’s is up 10x, to $400 million
💰Don Jr.’s is up 6x, to $300 million
💰20-year-old Barron is worth $150 million
And Jared became a billionaire last year.
Have a great day!
But the 2019 NYT bestseller Proof of Conspiracy didn't forecast both the Iran War and the revelation of clandestine Trump-Netanyahu collusion because I'm a genius; I'm definitely not. But I report using context-forward curatorial journalism, which—for instance—UK outlets also do.
It'll even kill its credibility to do so. In 2016 Team Trump colluded with Kremlin agents—see Manafort and Deripaska—but corporate media says otherwise to discredit indie journos, including those like this author whose books showed *last decade* that a war in Iran was inevitable.
Besides the content-over-context bugbear, another corporate media folly is its fight with independent journalism. Independent journalism often elevates *and* often critiques corporate media; in return, corporate media almost exclusively tries to destroy independent journalists.
Back when American journalism was broadly functional, a journalist would have said that it's better to have one lengthy candid interview with a president than a hundred pressers filled wall-to-wall with nothing but disinformation.
But corporate media needs profits—thus, content.
Today I heard someone from major media say, "Say what you will about Donald Trump, but you can always ask him questions."
See the issue there? Corporate media just needs *content to report*, and doesn't see that the content obsession Trump feeds is the poison that is killing it.
When Hegseth torpedoed a regular Iranian naval vessel hundreds of miles from the theater of war and committed the war crime of failing to rescue sailors, corporate media paid attention—it was a thing to write about. That it was strategically meaningless was context that got lost.
The Iranians made no secret of their strategy: hide their air force underground, let the national navy sink, protect the IRGC gunships. That would've told a competent Pentagon that it planned to close the Strait and fight a war of attrition. Corporate media also missed that data.
Every day, corporate media fails us in ways that matter. Which would be fine if the failures led to fixes: they don't. Instead, corporate media gets worse and worse and—incredibly—more and more dismissive of critics. It remains allergic to providing proper context in its reports.
Remember when I said Iran has *two* navies—only one of which matters strategically—and couldn't believe media wasn't challenging Trump's claim to have "destroyed Iran's Navy" when only the lesser part was sunk?
The ships firing in the Strait now are the ones I was talking about.
You always have to pay attention to what is actually happening, not what Trump says is happening. Because Trump lies about everything. Too often media serves as Trump’s daily stenographer, passing along his propaganda verbatim.
