I have taken to singing 'I am a Toot-Toot Drivers Steam Train' to the tune of Wichita Lineman. My son is not impressed.
To all who celebrate
This should always have been the end of it.
He was certainly afraid of Vietnam-style combat in Vietnam.
"This is not about being a sore loser" I continue to insist as I slowly shrink and transform into a corn cob.

Every time we say ICE can't get any worse, they take that as a challenge.
'Grandma's done me!' is my quote of the year so far.
Whatever my uni declares, I am not going to engage with AI. I am not going to use AI or teach students to use it. I am going to continue to explain to students why it is harmful. Absolutely absurd to allow this anti-intellectual, environmentally devastating technology into the university at all.
UK Higher Education policy remains a - to use the technical term - hot mess, addicted to international students' money but terrified of anything to do with migration regardless of the obvious benefits of overseas students both economically and socially.

The Doomsday Machine that is our university funding system will destroy everything in the end. First it destroys individual lives, then social mobility, then most universities, followed by the structure of income tax and the pension system. In the end it could threaten to destroy the economy itself.
In "celebration" of thr Pepto Bismol ad now being on the radio, I took some popular radio-friendly songs and added the "Diarrhea" guy.
Waited until after 10am to crack into all the leftover pre-Christmas chocolate in the office. New year, new me.
First in office day back after Christmas and I only nearly slipped over twice coming through town. That's an xS (Expected Slip) of 0.33.
I mean yeah itβs an authoritarian takeover but can we take some comfort in the fact that the people doing it are INSANELY stupid?
Whamageddon on Day One. The perils of having a one year old to distract me now.
Remember: it's in their interest to see you succeed, they made that decision when they accepted your application. They're in your corner and have resources - even if it's 'just' influence or guidance - that are valuable.
Even if it's only small amounts of research funding it could buy additional A/L from your employer or allow you to request documents from an archive rather than travel yourself.
You can also discuss with the University, as well as see what support they can offer. There's plenty reasons to cringe when thinking of students as 'customers' of Universities but it's just the way it is so use that to your advantage.
Joyce Carol Oates @Joyce... 17h O So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciatesβ scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend's or relative's accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the "most wealthy person in the world."
Elon Musk ' @elonmusk X.com Oates is a liar and delights in being mean. Not a good human.
lol she got his ass and he knows it
Nuremburg trials is the moderate position
When you have a sidebar chat with the other decision maker in the group to strategize how you're going to lead the most indecisive group chat towards an actual decision.
The backlash that is coming against AI is going to be huge and it is going to be hilarious.
HARDEST PHOTO OF 2025 JUST DROPPED
The discourse is all around deradicalising young men and the crisis among young men.
The discourse would be much better targeted if it was about deradicalising boomers (and increasingly Gen Xers).
Potato Waffles. Smiley Faces. Curly Fries.
All the carbs, essentially.
