Company backed by Trump sons looks to sell drone interceptors to Gulf states being attacked by Iran A drone maker backed by President Donald Trump’s two oldest sons is trying to win contracts with Gulf countries under threat by Iran and protected by the U.S. military led by their father.

Let’s be clear about what’s happening here.

President Trump launched an unauthorized war against Iran. Gulf countries are now under attack and desperate for protection. And Trump’s sons just signed a deal with a drone company actively trying to sell weapons to those countries.

The contrast in experience between the two men disagreeing over war and theology was striking. On the one side was Pope Leo XIV, the first North American to head the Catholic church and the first cleric from the Augustinian order, who this week visited the modern Algerian city where Saint Augustine once lived. For Leo, who wrote his doctoral thesis on Augustine's ideas, it was the culmination of a lifelong intellectual interest. On the other, the US vice-president, JD Vance, a very recent adult convert to Catholicism with no academic background in the history of the church's thinking.

In one corner, the Pope. In the other, Vance.
