For my 1,000th post on Bluesky, how about a gratuitous cat photo? Haven't done one of those in a while. Here's Tempest working on her tan lines. Cats know how to relax.

Today, my beloved papi would have been 88. ¡Feliz cumpleaños padre querido en el otro lado de las cosas! I love this photo of our last birthday celebration with him at my parents' home in Puerto Rico. He was my greatest cheerleader, and his love lives forever in my heart. ❤️

small half-chihuahua mixed breed with a pink collar and a tag saying "Emily"

small half-chihuahua mixed breed with a pink collar and a tag saying "Emily"

It's gotcha day. Three years ago today we drove across three states to adopt a homeless pup. Emily trusted us from the first minute, contentedly napping in her carrier in the back seat on the long drive home, and has always been the happiest, most cheerful dog ever.

Saw our local bald eagle on the first walk of the year. Unfortunately, didn't have my camera so only a crappy phone pic. Before I could get closer, the eagle got tired of my invasion of privacy and flew off across the valley.

young buck deer with two small antlers walking through the snow in a neighborhood of homes

young buck deer with two small antlers walking through the snow in a neighborhood of homes

Since we moved to a new home in August, we have many fewer wildlife sightings. At the former home we had foxes, deer, raccoons, etc. regularly, and bear visits several times a year. Not so, here, but this young fellow did stroll right through the middle of our neighborhood on Christmas Day. 🦊

Wood firme burning

Wood firme burning

Thankful this year for our new home and feeling a bit more settled after a few years of moving about and for my wife's steady return to health after tough times. First use of our home's tiny fireplace on Thanksgiving.
