(2/2) instead of one that brought in over $1.7 billion in profit last year. Also, my inquiry to Atrium Health about where the financial benefits from the tax exemption effectively go was ignored, and my public records request had a lot of redactions in it, which does not make me trust them at all.
(1/2) Not a bad question at all. The thing that I am more upset about is that the hospital is exempt from property tax on this land, which is a valuable loss of tax revenue that could have gone to fund other governmental services in Charlotte

Atrium Health is leasing tax-exempt land to a fried chicken restaurant—and won’t explain how that benefits the public.
