That sort of stuff always feels very lame to me. I've certainly seen worse on the internet than whatever they can legally show so the shock value doesn't even really work for me. It comes across as someone desperately trying to be edgy

People don't realist that AI use is near universal across the IT industry. Over 80% of developers use it.
AI is already involved in the coding of most things, it doesn't surprise me me that so many game developers are experimenting with using it.

I work in IT. In practice this means that AI tools for simple and mundane tasks end up being about as fast as a human whilst being a lot less tiring than doing it yourself.

People in development often like AI because it lets them get to the stuff they care about without putting a lot of effort into the extremely boring parts of the job

Games on a scale that requires a team are inherently too large to remain as pure passion projects. Nobody wants to spend weeks of their time dealing with coworkers and producing meaningless grunts or writing identical lines of code.

Making games is a job, people work for money.

Games are still a product and the big games are clearly the ones selling best.

An AI data centre is no different from all the other data centers that keep the internet running...

If it was used to replace artists or in attempts to generate art then there would be real harm being done. Currently as far as i can tell everyone is angry because they hate the vague concept of AI.

So it's not being used to replace artists, it's not being used for art.
Where is the problem?

I am "defending" it because i see no problem with AI being used as a tool since it is in no way fundamentally different from tools that are used daily
