It has been a while since I have been on here. I have gone full into the AI in education world, reading a lot and also finding LinkedIn to be the most educational forum in this field. Upon my return it is clear that the discourse needs to be stronger on this platform.

Absolutely agree. This is one the main flaws and also the argument against them being a learning tool. There needs to be a strong level of pre-existing knowledge to be able to a) provide the right prompts and b) analyse and use the output productively.
Very true, but not a reason to not do it. It's not going to happen everywhere, but in my small sphere, it will be tackled as well as it can be.

Today my son wrote an essay wo/help for his AP World History class. We ran it through an "AI Detector" and it came back 84% created by AI. He tried another assignment, also his own words. 90% positive AI generated. The evidence is clear. #EduSky #AIEdu #EduSky

It obviously depends on the students, but I would allow at least a lesson in order to talk it through and then guide them. I haven't done enough yet, but I assume that the process speeds up the more you do it.
