Section 3 of the spec fully implemented in my Apple II zmachine interpreter. Test program below is dumping strings from Czech (running on my IIGS)

Text-based splash screen for a game "redactron" running on an Apple IIGS
I completed my goal of making a game (albeit one that takes 30 second to play) entirely in 6502 on the Apple IIGS at Global Game Jam. It was a lot of fun and very satisfying, and I'll probably do it again at future jams.

Set myself a challenge for GGJ - build a game in 6502 assembly entirely on the IIGS. For bonus points also only use (scanned) books for reference.
Hit a solid milestone in my ZMachine interpreter for the Apple II. The various print opcodes now work, as demonstrated below by a test program running on my Apple IIGS that just dumps all the strings in a tiny v3 story (compiled in Inform 6).
Shit shit shit.
Difficult realization that we're financially at our limit. I need work yesterday to support my wife and I. At this point, anything goes. Full time, part time, you pay and I code for you.

"babies are born worshipping unknown gods" is one of the most incredible dwarf fortress bugs i have heard of. its poetry.
The joyful chaos of #over/under over the last month really opened my eyes to the power and delight of collaborative storytelling. I'm lucky to have participated in my small way. My deep thanks to everyone involved.

Doesn't look like much but this is the same 6502 code cross-compiled on my Mac and running in both the little 6502 emulator I'm using for testing and the IIGS itself. I can now start actual development on the Z-Machine interpreter!

I think I still have this issue of QuestBusters!
What's amazing is how all that can be going on and you can still just rp a character doing their own thing and not really taking part in any of it. It adds an unparalleled richness to the entire experience.
For gamers who aren't in game dev, you should know that we are in one of the worst periods in game dev history in terms of industry stability and the reason you're not seeing that play out through products is because the average development window of games is 3-7 years so it hasn't reached you yet.

Sign #over/under may have gotten into my head: I quit my fake job over a fake reorg of a fake company and genuinely feel a bit down about it.
Mondo is one my favorite denizens of the dream! I laugh every time i see that gif.
One of the things I am most enjoying about #over/under is that there's nobody to disappoint. You can do what you want and participate as much or as little as you want and there's no sense that you ruined the Warden's extensive prep by going in a different direction than they intended.
If you are in the Buffalo area this weekend, consider joining BGS Jam XXI hosted by Villa Maria College! Starting Friday October 24th at 7pm and ending on Sunday October 26th at 7pm, we'll be making games. No game dev experience necessary, only the desire to work on a game.

It's been an unproductive year for gamedev. I worked on a game engine for the #playdate but my interest petered out. My current project is liskon, a Z-machine interpreter written in C. This is actually the third stab I've taken at an interpreter, previously writing ones in Python and Rust.
Key art for Lunar Division and Bithell Games' 'The Banished Vault'. The Auriga Vault, an enormous spaceship with a gothic monastery-inspired design, rises up from behind a sun. Smaller ships surround it, and around those, planets and moons of different sizes.
A screenshot from Lunar Division and Bithell Games' 'The Banished Vault' showing part of a 2D, tabletop-game-style map of a solar system. 3D models of gothic-inspired spaceships are on the 'board'; one, the Ariga Vault, is central, and very large. Two much smaller ships wait in front of it to be directed by the player. An annotated lines on the 'board' stretches away from the ships, the start of the route they can take into the solar system.

A large, red, ringed planet is in the centre, with a smaller green-yellow further up. Annotated lines show the routes a ship can take between planets and moons on the map. The Energy Calculator tool is open, which players can use to work out how much fuel they need for a journey. There are four categories, each corresponding to a set of numbers: Engine Efficiency, Ship Mass, Fuel, and Energy. When the player increases or decreases one section, the rest also increase or decrease accordingly.

I hope they do! I will miss this chaos when it's over.
Over/Under is one of the strangest and most interesting games I've ever played.

A pixel art pyramid
The player character from my indie game.
It's going to eventually be a horse. But a pyramid was much easier to draw!
I've just started working on a #playdate game that is intended to be an Erie-canal themed Paperboy-like. It's a remake of a half-finished game I worked on in Unity. The current goal is to build a whiteboxed prototype to test and tune gameplay.
Thanks to everyone who watched, donated to, and presented on the Buffalo Game Space fundraising stream yesterday! We hit our goal of $10,000 which enables us continue to serve Buffalo's amazing local game dev community.
