Speakers of the Wind: A Homebrew Miqo'te Clan “Love your brothers and sisters; love your neighbours and friends, and love the rocks and hills, the grass and trees, as you would love your own siblings. Heed these words, and no calamity shall befall you, and your home and hearth will be safe forever more.” Located within Abalathia’s Spine, nomads that had once splintered off from the earliest Miqo’te immigrants to Aldenard found a territory to call home. Having followed the seasons and the winds, they came across the rocky shores of a great caldera, hidden by thick fog and the endless snow-tipped peaks. It is here that their story as a people began. The Four Winds thus became their guiding force, with each representing both an element and a season. As they sought to divine deeper meaning from (and developed greater veneration for) its whisperings, they came to know themselves not as Seekers of the Sun or Keepers of the Moon, but as Speakers of the Wind; those who heed the heavens’ messenger.

To Be A Speaker: What Sets Them Apart? Much like Seekers of the Sun and Keepers of the Moon, many unique tribes and families exist within the clan, and thus appearances may differ. With that said, there exist similarities between these groups that act as identifiers to mark them as Speakers of the Wind. Speakers typically have pale skin with brown or grey undertones. Their hair comes in a variety of colours, with cooler shades such as grey, white, brown, or blue being the most common. Similarly, their eyes are usually pastel, muted tones, but this is not always the case. To combat the onset of frost bite in their more frigid home ranges, many bloodlines have developed smaller, fluffier ears to better keep their extremities insulated. Likewise, their tails are often thicker with plush coats. Not only do they serve to store fat in times of scarcer food supplies, but Speakers will often sink their fingers into the fur of their own tails to warm them! Speakers shed fur seasonally to regulate their body temperatures. As such, they take their grooming sessions very seriously. Handcrafted combs carved from animal bone and colourful pigments to wear as makeup or use as hair dye are common gifts between courting Speakers. Gold and silver accessories are also coveted, especially beaded hair adornments.
