You guys want Hoffman too?

It gives me great comfort knowing that a) the Mets are doing worse than the Jays, and b) Bo is sucking for the Mets instead of sucking for us. A grateful nation salutes you.
Pretty sure Leo is a Bulls fan but whatever...
Speeding is speeding. An 'e-bike' that can travel that fast has either been illegally modded or should be licensed & on the street with the other motorcycles. In either case, it should be impounded. Speed traps on bike lanes maybe? I know enforcement isn't ideal, but if you impound enough of them..?
I don't mind if it's a *little* rough (I lived in Toronto for decades). I just don't want to live in a suburb.
I have a friend who retired to Qualicum Beach and loves it. It's just a little too remote, I think. My husband has terminal cancer so we want to make sure we're close by to medical and possibly hospice care.
Ok, hive mind: we're looking to move to Vancouver Island and we're looking at Nanaimo, but our son (who lives in Victoria) feels it's too... sketchy. He's suggesting Sooke or Duncan. We want something in a mature, walkable neighbourhood, with easy access to medical facilities. Thoughts?
Picture of street filled with people when cars are prohibited, with a prominent sign saying “road closed.” Via Urban Truth Collecrive (Also, it’s a street, not a road)
How come they keep spelling “open” wrong?
Does that street look closed to you? Only if you’re a car… and presumably that’s the real problem. #UrbanTruth
Good @lanrickbennett.bsky.social piece on bike lanes and who’s using ‘em. Glad to see a takedown of the “only delivery workers are using them” argument, because I really don’t understand how tearing up bike lanes is supposed to help gig workers. spacing.ca/toronto/2025...
If you like waterfalls, come to Hamilton, Ontario. Niagara isn't the only waterfall off the Niagara Escarpment - there are dozens in and around Hamilton, and more up the Bruce like Hilton Falls, etc. www.cityofwaterfalls.ca
So wish I could have been there, but as a Canadian I couldn't take the risk of getting gulaged. Been making that 9 1/2 hour drive since 2012 - Roger's last time there. Made friends for life. Hoping to see them again someday. Y'all come visit up north!
Love to all my #Ebertfest friends!
Dying to see that one. Loved 'I Like Movies' so much. Where did you see it?
My cousin died of pancreatic cancer. Time from diagnosis to death was about 2 weeks. She was 50. RNA vaccines are a miracle.
If you wanted to bring Ebertfest to Canada, you would be welcomed with open arms - and might have fewer funding issues 😉
Montreal spring is like an autopsy. Everyone wants to see the inside of the frozen mammoth. Girls rip off their sleeves and the flesh is sweet and white, like wood under green bark. From the streets a sexual manifesto rises like an inflating tire, “the winter has not killed us again!

Ah, but see baseball has these nice little pauses built in that some people complain make it slow but are really to keep the exciting parts from being too stressful. Not like hockey which is just non-stop mayhem.
Happy (belated) National Canadian Film Day! 😀 🇨🇦
This week I am recommending a handful of films from Canadian filmmakers: Sophy Romvari (who has made the best film of the year), Chandler Levack (who has two films out today), Miryam Charles, Ally Pankiw, and Razan AlSalah.

I attended my first Ebertfest in 2012, after years of watching Roger on TV and reading his blog. In 2014 I started my own film festival in Milton, largely inspired by #Ebertfest. If they wanted to move it to Canada I would move heaven and earth to make it happen. www.indiewire.com/news/festiva...
They have all the intros and Q&As live on YouTube, so I watched Nuremberg at home then watched the Q&A. *Almost* like being there 😞 www.youtube.com/live/vdwQvwK...
So sad that I won't be attending this last Ebertfest after attending all of them since 2012. As a Canadian, I just can't take the risk. All my love to my many beautiful Ebertfest friends - have a wonderful time, and hope to see you at the movies here in Canada someday!
Personally, I'm not keen on "On Your Left" because as a lefty/cross-dominant it takes me more time than usual sorting right from left. What I've always felt would be most helpful on MUPs is a line down the middle: walk/bike on the right, pass left, just like a road. Easy. No confusion.
Again: the gun you keep in the home for “protection” increases your risk of homicide by 3-fold, of suicide by 5-fold, and for men, risk of suicide more than 10-fold
The second you bring a gun into the home you’ve dramatically increased the risk of death for your family 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Alberta's government has learned well from their American masters.
And of course he's still on Xitter.
Same. I love it.
Day 3 was packed! Super proud of this campaign and effort put on by @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social @cycletoronto.bsky.social & The Bike Brigade
This is the way to do things and a positive step for change - start by listening to and talking with - lead with empathy not force.
