What does ESPN stand for? When ESPN started in 1979, we were the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (hence the name ESPN). However, that name took too long to paint across our chests on game day, so we dropped it ...

For what it’s worth, this seems like management/existing owners using the public listing to create a new business. What you think of as the shoe company was sold to an unrelated group and will presumably continue in some way. Buying more allbirds shoes won’t support AI.
I also own several pairs.

Horseshoe Theory applies though: he wishes the legislature would have been more hostile to Muslims and other minorities as well as the poor and the sick.

There is a check in the Constitution against abuse of pardons, but Congress has decided that acquiescence is preferable to conflict. The president should fear that he’ll be removed from office if Congress catches a whiff of him even planning half of what this president is doing.

A lot of states do things like this to attract what they call “foreign direct investment.” Obvious ones include Michigan courting Canadians, but bigger states regularly reach to Asia, Australia, and Europe.

I don’t think FIFA has ever not been corrupt. Certainly not in the past few decades. They briefly put on the veneer of respectability when the US started criminally prosecuting them under Obama, but that mask got ripped off for Trump2.

Peter Magyar winning in Hungaria sounds like "Johnny English" winning in the UK. The writers really didn't know how to get out of the Orbán arc.

They can also allocate usage with other non-gaming tasks to get more out of the machines. Does a bank need batch processing work at 4:00 AM when almost nobody is gaming? Here’s an Xbox rack to run it on.
What needs to be solved most is latency. Most games just don’t feel good with that much ping.

The disconnect is that the community wanted a forever maintained Pokémon Colosseum as a universal competitive utility, but the production is a Pokémon Colosseum gacha live service because why make software that won’t be profitable on its own?

Just learned from @ft.com that Trump is starting wars in the Middle East without having even nominated ambassadors to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, or Iraq.

I could see it as a far off extension of solar panels when production of panels can exceed in-place demand, but that market is nowhere near mature enough to justify this when we could build solar farms with our limited panels and car charging stations that can make use of all energy sources.

3. Does it make sense to carry the panels everywhere when we have so many stationary placements that need buildout?
4. Dense cities get the greatest benefit from EVs (and so hold the current demand) but are also the most likely to park in garages.
5. You lose the option of a sunroof/moonroof.

Here’s a couple of points:
1. Never been safety tested, and manufacturing would need novel tooling.
2. The useful life of a car doesn’t match a solar panel. Panels would need to become modular parts when we already don’t make enough panels.

That strikes me as a desperate “but I’m one of the good ones” plea. You just normally expect that to be an appeal to the right instead of to the left. It’s not good for anybody.

Could we have a worse Administration to have the 250th Anniversary, the FIFA World Cup & the Olympics?

I didn't think so.

The “Dynamic Island” is successfully branding the display cutout around the cameras as a feature instead of a nuisance by creating a sort of pop-up with a matching black background that grows from the unavoidable black space.

If only this were a census redistricting cycle. The gerrymander is likely to still favor Republicans during the presidential. The best chance for Texas Democrats to enact an agenda (rather than just block Republicans) is with the 2030 elections. In all likelihood, that’s a national Dem midterm.

That’s generously believing that the 2010-style FIFA ExCo would have acted to maximize group profit and not personal profit. If they got off scot free, 2022 would have been somewhere like Kazakhstan and 2026 in Saudi or something, wherever the biggest bribes came from.

They will never admit it, but the US probably got this World Cup because of Obama’s DOJ starting prosecutions following the 2010 award of the 2018 WC to Russia and 2022 to Qatar. Half of the FIFA executive committee that voted on those was later punished or prosecuted for corruption.
