US state-level policy responses to shifting federal guidance varied widely in 2025, with most states acting to preserve #COVID19 vaccination access through standing orders, insurance coverage, or clinician authority.

So, I mentioned this to a manager, who calmly told me "yeah, the corporate office does that to fool people. They won't fix that if we complain."

PS Yes, I know what they did wrong math-wise.

I stopped and stared at the price per ounce numbers for a few minutes trying to reproduce Kroger's / Ralph's math, especially since they are misleading in way that would make you buy a larger package that was actually more expensive per ounce.

I wonder what decision process or discussion initially led to this course of action, let alone the decision to perpetuate it. It's difficult for me to picture it.

JAMA | Original Investigation: "Prediction of Bacteremia and Bacterial Meningitis Among Febrile Infants Aged 28 Days or Younger." Key points discuss accuracy of clinical prediction rules based on lab results to identify risk in young infants.

The updated PECARN rule reliably identified low-risk febrile infants, with no missed cases of bacterial meningitis, potentially reducing routine lumbar punctures.

I Left the CDC 100 Days Ago. My Worst Fears About the Agency Are Coming True "Things have not improved," writes Dr. Debra Houry. "They have worsened. And Congress has still failed to act."

Happy Veterans Day! This post is celebrating my mother's service as a WASP--Women Airforce Service Pilot--during WW II, flying P-52s, P-47s, etc. from the factory to bases for subsequent deployment. Flying newly built planes is risky; 38 of the 1074 women died, often due to mechanical failures.
