Today we welcomed society members to Litchurch Lane. They enjoyed a tour of some of Alstom’s train manufacturing facilities, and of course, a visit to 507001 complete with simulator. A thorough enjoyable day for all involved!

#OnThisDay 41 years ago the final Merseyside Wirral Electrics Class 503 service ran. The first batch was built by the LMS in 1938, this driving trailer M29276M was one of the originals: looking anachronistic here in the relatively new Liverpool Loop Line buff.ly/CyUtbto

On this day in 2015 - the Merseyrail megatrain! After multiple failures on the Wirral Line caused by ice on the third rail, a rescue train went out to fetch the stalled units, ending up with EIGHTEEN coaches by the time it reached Hooton. Our own 507001 is in there somewhere! youtu.be/tiTNqtZrT6U
