Sergio has an affinity for the grotesque, but somehow he makes it adorable. His books are filled with indescribable lumpy, hairy, fleshy, tumorous, protuberances. They grow from alien plants or roll around under tables. They are unsettling and hilarious and beautiful and repulsive.

Happy Book Birthday to SHARK AT SISTER TEA by Barbara Joose & @ruzzier.bsky.social! It's a picture book about sisters who have to outwit the VERY strange (and very TOOTHY) "fisherman" who crashes their tea party. PW called it "a shark-in-sheep's-clothing" story. Ha!

Picture book SHARK AT SISTER TEA by Barbara Joosse and illustrator Sergio Ruzzier is “a shark-in-sheep’s-clothing story that celebrates childhood courage and resourcefulness”
We’re Bluesky official!! We are a children’s bookstore in the heart of Manhattan, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring the magic of stories to our city’s young readers💙
Ruzzier does it again. This gets a prominent place on my list of favorite 2025 picture books. @ruzzier.bsky.social @harperkids.bsky.social A gentle and comforting tale bound to evoke curiosity and wonder.
Thank you!
