I'd go into a bit more detail but I want anyone looking to see the movie experience as much of it blind as possible. In the end I still had a crazy fun time watching these Mario Movies. They don't have much depth like in comparison to stuff like the Sonic movies, but they're still super fun

It very much is a "turn your brain off" kind of deal. That can be a negative to have to consider doing with media. But I do think the level of fun from these movies makes me more willing to do it with them.
Having said that it not an excuse for where the movie is lacking in terms of story depth.

Now that I've seen the Mario Galaxy Movie and had a night to sleep on it I have some quick thoughts:
It (and Movie 1) is an absolute joyride of an experience to go through.
BUT
It genuinely is a story you shouldn't think too hard about retroactively because you will notice the cracks VERY easily.

Getting further exposure and stuff like that can definitely be nice. But each of these series have their own dedicated fans who would like for each series to get time to stand on their own rather than just being used to prop up more well liked series with the novelty of crossing over with others

Something like Ben 10/Generator Rex was also sick because their meeting was a rare one time thing. So seeing them bounce off each other for one adventure was really cool
