Waving not drowning.
Well, maybe both— but definitely waving

ME (doing stand-up, one night only): a lot of my friends and loved ones have died in the last five years
AUDIENCE (in unison): how many friends and loved ones have you lost?
ME (sobbing): too many. And another lost today 😞

[ I did not pick the best decade to start my stand-up career ]

Higher education has some challenges of its own making, to be sure. It always has, and because it is built to move slow—that is, to NOT be a business—it is an ongoing deferred maintenance project.

But none of the issues are the ones for which it is being attacked. Not. fucking. one.

Yale Report Finds Colleges Deserve Blame for Higher Education’s Problems

Yale can fuck the fuck right off. They would not recognize higher education as it exists outside their confines if it bit them on the shriveled dick

How We Brought Respectful Debate Back to The Harvard Crimson’s Editorial Board

How We Brought Respectful Debate Back to The Harvard Crimson’s Editorial Board

To us, the solution is deceptively simple. Universities should create environments where students with different views must talk to one another routinely and establish ground rules that ensure they do so without distractions or prejudgment.

Illiberalism on college campuses isn’t inevitable. At The Crimson, it took only a few months to radically improve.

I will never understand how American elites managed to convince themselves that uncivil debate — not fascism, not impunity and not widespread indifference to facts — is the defining problem of our time.

I run my small newsletter on Ghost because I’m allergic to being platformed alongside Nazis. But without Nazis & the algorithms that love ‘em, no one will find me. Not looking to make money, just to find interested readers and maybe cover some hosting fees. & not have to be associated with Nazis

How do you do it, Ed? I write a small newsletter about my corner of this waking nightmare and I have to spend days in bed after I finish every mindbendingly depressing post. I am in awe of your ability to face the firehose unflinchingly

Continued respiration is an act of will. Getting up from bed is heroic. The mind grows so dry it risks sloughing away if exposed to the news of the day.

This too shall pass. Until then surround yourself with all possible grace—& shun those who would gaslight you into accepting that this is normal

Do Vance and the other supposed converts understand that obedience to the pope is pretty much foundational to the whole Catholicism thing?

Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy. He talks about "fear" of the Trump Administration, but doesn't mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart. I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn't! I don't want a Pope who thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don't want a Pope who thinks it's terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I don't want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I'm doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History. Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise. He wasn't on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn't in the White House, Leo wouldn't be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo's Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It's hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it's hurting the Catholic

Vance went to Hungary to secure the election for his fave fash and then went to Pakistan to secure Iran’s surrender to Trump’s war… and he completely failed at both. This administration is as incompetent as it is evil

Since 2024, I've been deep in contemporary realism—learning about assaults on education, the necropolitics of climate change, global autocracy, surveillance capitalism, the manosphere, the mainstreaming of white nationalism, & technofeudalism

But I think I need some lighter distractions for a bit 😬

Happened to me too. I have no idea, but in both cases they were mutual "follows" so maybe there is an exception when you both follow each other?

The biggest mistake we ever made was imagining that knowing what everyone thought about everything always would be good for humanity. Ope.
