1. Photo with child learning about the brain and the following text: April 8, 2026 In the morning, I was in a shelter teaching displaced children the neuroscience of their own emotions. We talked about how the brain responds to stress. We explored the pink 3D brain model. We learned how to manage stress with some techniques.
2. Photo of urban area in Lebanon being struck by bombing, with text: Two hours later, Lebanon was hit by one of the most intense Israeli airstrike campaigns to date: more than 100 strikes in just 10 minutes across densely populated residential areas, killing over 250 individuals β including children
Text: On a day when regional ceasefire news briefly sparked a flicker of hope, it was met with an unimaginably vicious reality. Like a devil saying don't get hopeful with an evil smirk. As an educator and a researcher, I keep asking myself: What kind of therapy and an educational approach does a developing brain require to process this level of active terror?
Text: We talk a lot about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. But there is no "Post" here. The trauma is continuous. It is the deafening sounds, the trembling walls, and the raw images flooding their phones. In a world where we talk a lot about brain health and protection - I would really like to bring your attention to what Israel is doing to the brains of children in the region. We'll keep saying education is hope. But it's particularly challenging when they keep bombing everywhere.

He does incredible neuroscience outreach in Lebanon, currently with children in shelters whose families were displaced by Israeli bombing. The US government (including many Democratic reps in Oregon) continue to fund these atrocities π
