UPDATE: I was in the mood for Thai food after this post, and tried a new place — Daughter Thai in the Rockridge district of Oakland. Can’t vouch for authenticity, since I haven’t yet been to Thailand, but it was quite good…flavorful and good quality ingredients

It’s a vegan restaurant. I’m not even close to being vegan but I’ve had great meals there, and highly recommend the experience
Hmm…to be honest, most of the Thai places we order from/go to are in the general “good, but no surprises” category. I’ve heard Farmhouse in Jack London Square (Oakland) is solid, but probably doesn’t have the authenticity you are looking for
