Decided to do a little more digging to learn more about those 2020 Biden voters who skipped 2024, why they skipped, and what sort of message might win them back, and found this helpful research by Celinda Lake from last year: waytowin.docsend.com/view/rnv5spt...
It would be so much easier to shake off the stink of gamergate if we didn't have published authors and self-styled gaming historians going around to sites like Time Extension saying shit like participating in a boycott "imposes a 'tyranny of virtue' on others"
fucking rubes

Tweet by “Secretary of War” Pete Hegseth: “The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force. We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately.” Below there is a video of the announcement for his many, many illiterate fans
Behind Hegseth’s big stupid face, a painting can be seen.
The painting is of George Washington crossing the Delaware. It is by Emanuel Leutze.
An article from the National Parks Service: Smallpox, Inoculation, and the Revolutionary War Boston National Historical Park During the 1700s, smallpox raged through the American colonies and the Continental Army. Smallpox impacted the Continental Army severely during the Revolutionary War, so much so that George Washington mandated inoculation for all Continental soldiers in 1777. Just fifty-six years earlier, in 1721, Bostonian doctors and clergy introduced the procedure to the American colonies. Without the vision and determination of these early Bostonians in normalizing inoculation, Washington may not have made the decision to mandate inoculation for the Continental Army. Though it was a controversial action, many historians credit the medical mandate with the colonists' victory in the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States of America.
When I say gamers treat you not buying the entertainment products they like with the exact same degree of pain like you chopped off one of their fingers, this is what I mean.
Holy fucking dogwhistle my boys, a tyranny of virtue! that's fucking RICH

A photo pulled from a website archive of the cube white and blue glossy subwoofer with a glowy vertical strip on one side. The nunchuck speakers are either side of it, and the subwoofer and Wii are nestled in the grey stand
The Wide Wii of 2008: 4gamers' officially licensed 2.1 speaker system and base.
Retailing for £70, it also included a Wiimote that functioned as a remote for it, and, as we can see, nunchuck styled satellite speakers.
Congrats, Rebekah! Hope you love it there!

Reminder that most people who didn't vote in 2024 didn't do so out of a desire to "smash Democrats," so maybe it's really stupid to constantly attack people who didn't vote and constantly smear them. Just a thought! www.pewresearch.org/politics/202...

The Games that shaped you are disappearing Remember those games that changed how you think about gaming? Games crafted with passion, not by committee? Every year, more of them vanish forever – and with them, a piece of who we are.
lmao this is straight up fear mongering.
The games are dyin', Cloud!
You can actually help preserve games without scaring people.
Like... I'm sorry, but to win future elections, you need a good chunk of the people who sat out in 2016 or 2024 to vote for you, and I just don't think that sneering at them and saying it's their fault that things are the way they are right now is going to win them over, even if you truly believe it
🚗💕🚕🤝
Shocking.
Also, the fundraiser is 42% fulfilled! I'm keeping it open for another few weeks to try and bridge the gap but I'm tremendously thankful for everyone who has already contributed, shared, or otherwise supported me and my upcoming move 💙

“Portrayals of sex work in mainstream media such as Euphoria rely on reductive and harmful stereotypes, which often shape public perception of sex workers in ways that justify harmful policy."

Thank you to every player, streamer, and fan who made this handcrafted little world feel alive. It only exists because you cared about it.
And don't worry, we're not done telling stories. 👀
