In Roddenberrys own words, there are 2 Star Treks; the Trek actually representative of a truly diverse future that exists only in our dreams & the Star Trek we actually got, a TV show always trying to be diverse but still informed by the bias & limitations of present day writers & an unequal USA.
I loved the first season of #StarfleetAcademy. Could it be more subtle sometimes? Sure. Do I find the technology of that time period a bit annoying? Yes.
But the characters are fun! And it felt like everybody got a chance to shine... and some character development too.
Bonus: Jett Reno <3

painted this today on stream.
Watched 'Princess Mononoke' for the third time in cinema. One of my favorite movies.
Somehow I never really realized that either Ashitaka or San mended Ashitaka's clothing while he was under her care in the cave. (I'd say he did it, internet seems to think San)

Watched the first two episodes of Starfleet Academy. Going in, I decided that I would try to like it. Hm, oh well, I guess it worked. :-D
I mean it's a different Star Trek again and I could see what the writers were doing almost a bit too much. But still: I had fun!

“I misunderstood you.”
You can use this when it becomes clear that you misunderstood someone’s post, rather than snarking at them like an asshole
Painting of a fox with a hooded cloak, a grimoire and a D20. A scroll reads "The sly dungeon master". By Victoria Maderna.
A gouache commission I just finished, loved loved painting this one! 🦊
Archer in the snow. Watercolour. Defending all creatures of good cheer and brotherhood from those who would destroy it. Happy New Year!
The cover of SABLE: A GHOST STORY. Teddy, an anthropomorphic stoat, stands in a dark hallway with a flashlight, a concerned look on his face, while a skeletal wraith looms out of the shadows behind him.
#MeetTheWebcomic Hello! I make a hand-painted comic titled SABLE: A GHOST STORY. It's about troubled young stoat who finds something terrible seeping from the walls of his estranged uncle's mansion. It's a bit "Wind In The Willows," a bit M.R. James. Read it at sablecomic.com
1st ASD character where I realized characteristics apply to me: Abed.
But liking other autistic (coded) characters long before him, without making the connection. Didn't really realize what I was looking at before.
Representation via autistic coding is good, but took me longer 'to connect the dots'.
Yes. Rumors, other (semi-)related stuff going on or just a few red herrings, when the PCs ask around / gather information. Usually at the start of an adventure or when a skill check wasn't so good. Sometimes I tell them: at least x of the y infos are true & I love when the players figure it all out.

Another older drawing salvaged from Instagram. Still like this one.
screenshot of a post on facebook from Alex Lamoreaux, depicting two versions of the "same" photograph of a bobcat in front of a pine plantation, one labeled original game cam photo, one labeling AI processed the markings have been altered on the AI photo, and the head changed and resized text says: Oh! A neat goose hybrid posted to ‘What’s this Bird?’ but when you zoom in on the photos the bill details have been too manipulated by AI photo editing to be accurately assessed for which species may be involved. Scroll on… A cool-looking Red-tailed Hawk that someone is wondering which subspecies it might be - right up my alley! But when you zoom in on the photos literally every feather group has been so heavily manipulated and altered by AI editing that it’s impossible to determine subspecies because the photo is essentially fake now; just a mashup of whatever AI thinks parts of a Red-tail should look like. Scroll on… WOW! That’s a remarkable trail cam photo of a Bobcat! It almost looks like a painting!… but the head looks oddly small…. hmmmm. After some prodding the original photo is produced and sure enough it had been so heavily altered by AI ‘post processing’ that the photo posted was essentially a digital mock-up with totally different proportions and fur markings. No longer the photo off the trail cam; it may as well have just been ‘created’ by AI from scratch. This stuff is killing me. My days on social media are becoming very limited. We can’t even trust simple, everyday photos of animals to be real. The wildlife community needs to quit editing with AI, and we need to start calling out photographers that are using it. Our reality is being destroyed all around us.
this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing
these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous
this is worth sharing and educating people about
"But it's 5 minutes of work now that'll probably save me or someone else hours much later. Of course I'm NOT going to do it. I already wasted too many hours on not caring, so I didn't expect that I actually have to deliver good work."
Aaaaahhh!
Not what they said... but what it feels like.

Comic in vier Panels, vollcoloriert. Darüber steht auf Englisch: I know, life’s a mess lately.
Über ihm steht: A constant struggle, overwhelming and exhausting.
Darüber steht: But I know you can fight the fight.
Über ihm steht: And don’t forget to rest and recover. You are badass.
We can fight the fight!
🤍🐺
"🎶You gotta fight, for your right, to rest and reeecover!" Chaos-Hirn. 😅)
And you're a badass!
The witch made him hot chocolate.
"They say I'm strong," he said. "And I am."
He took a sip.
"They say I can overcome any hardship."
"Mm," said the witch.
"And I can. I do."
The witch said nothing.
"But I shouldn't have to!"
"No."
The witch held the hero as he wept.
"No, you shouldn't."
Didn't know I still had this sketch of Temerity. <3

I guess I have bad taste. Just finished The Witcher s. 4 ep. 5 and I liked it. So far, the new guy isn't so bad and I quite like Yen, Jaskier, Regis and for some reason also Cahir (I may be a sucker for redemption arcs). I've watched far worse shows and something in me still seems to enjoy this one.
cw: mental health, neurodivergence?
rejection sensitive dysphoria. Anyone know more about this?
Is it possible that what I think feels like RSD is actually 'just' the result of being too controlled with my emotions around people for too long and that just explodes, when I get surprised by rejection?
