3 Indigenous-led marine refuges established off B.C.'s North Coast | CBC News The federal government, the Haida Nation and the Gitxaała Nation have jointly announced the establishment of three marine refuges along British Columbia's North Coast.

Two marine refuge areas have been established in Haida Gwaii and a third in an area near Banks Island.

All three sites have been established under an initiative meant to increase Indigenous-led marine conservation efforts on the West Coast, while also advancing reconciliation.
