I saw a disclaimer in an ebook the other day that said, 'This book is 100% human generated. I'd rather write a story that might have lumpy bits than generate a soulless, passionless, piece of crap." I'm thinking of adding something like that to my next book if I ever get around to writing it.

We have to get over this unfounded belief that business does stuff better and that CEO’s are somehow gurus who can take their knowledge into every field. It’s the ultimate in believing that money acquisition is always the aim. Let’s not live money above people.

Just occurred to me that the Prophet Muhammad's injunction against destroying fruit-bearing trees during war (and the exceptions he ordered) takes on new meaning in this context

Destroying an oasis' palm trees doesn't just take out the tree

It destroys the ecology that allows the oasis to exist

From Molotov cocktails to data center shutdowns, the AI backlash is turning revolutionary | Fortune Gen Z is furious about AI, and so is the American countryside.

Last week I briefly talked abt tech hype cycles during my AI unit.

I asked students if they had heard of MOOCs. They all shook their head no. I explained what they were, & that tech/higher ed leaders promised MOOCs were the future. The students laughed bc that narrative sounded very familiar.

Yes I'm aware that it goes into general revenue, like the Medicare levy, which does then call into question the whole 'not paying their fair share of tax for road repairs' argument. General tax evasion is the real problem which is why support for cgt and other macro changes should be the focus.
