Congratulations to our sister in AAC collective
@lorrainegrimes.bsky.social
on the publication of this book. It documents a bleak part of hidden Irish history that affected so many of our families but was not openly acknowledged.

Throughout the 20th Century, unmarried mothers endured shame and institutionalisation. In Single Mothers in Twentieth-century Ireland and Britain, @lorrainegrimes.bsky.social examines the journeys made by hundreds of pregnant Irish women to Britain.

Thank you to those who continue to provide.
TOP should be integrated and treated like any other healthcare service. Stigma for TOP service provision has no place.
The article is focused on service providers experiences of policy implementation. The most pressing issue is that the service relies on a small number of committed providers.
Delighted to see myself and Dr Deirdre Duffy's @dnduffy.bsky.social article out. This is important research we carried out for the review of the Termination of Pregnancy legislation in Ireland.
It is important that we press for adequate supports for women and children affected. They deserve an official apology at the very least along with social, financial and psychological support.
Well done to Terri, Paul and Fiona for sharing their stories and thanks to @sarahcorker.bsky.social and @lkilraine.bsky.social from @itvnews.bsky.social for the opportunity.
Really proud to have contributed to this documentary for ITV news on forced adoption and repatriation of single mothers and their children in Britain and Ireland

Ah sometimes it's good to leave it some time. I know it's hard going back to it! ๐ Best of luck with it. You'll get it there!
Based on a PhD thesis from 2020 and been publishing in different fields since then so it's been hiding in the woodwork.
Haha this kept happening to me too. Sorry to throw a spanner in the works! Looking forward to reading the chapter.
The book includes chapters on migration stigma for single mothers, "morality" and institutionalisation, the cost of care in Britain, experiences of institutionalisation and maternity care, illegal and forced adoption, repatriation , fathers and advocacy for single mothers.
It's been a lot of work to get here but my book is finally available for pre-order www.bloomsbury.com/uk/single-mo...
