Angine de Potrine are playing the Aladdin in August! Attempted to get presale tickets this morning, failed. Hopefully we'll have better luck at the public release tomorrow. If we get tickets, I'll be painting that very large pyramidic hat I made for the Rite of Jupiter gold & wearing it there.

So I had my first bombing nightmare last night. And let me tell you it was no good at all. 100% awful, do not recommend.

Haven't been over here in a bit, just popping my head up to have a look around. Hi everyone! Yep. Ok.
Now, back to the dragons.
Happy Opening, Lizard Boy!

Happy Friday the 13th!
I'm beginning my day with a small and wonderfully bloody piece of steak, contemplating my imminent victories.
They say the best revenge is living well. I prefer living well *and* seeing my enemy's head on a spike. Why not both? ❤

I really must regain control of my attention.
Some of the distraction is nice, but most of it is awful and there's shit to get done.

The crows got some salmon skin this chilly morning. Got to spend a little time in the garden with Bertie supervising before heading in for more tech. Mandrakes are happy (one is even blooming.)

Though the blade on my altar is steel I forged myself and with which I have a deep and living connection, I am tempted to switch it for the time being with a Fairbairn-Sykes dagger. One that was gifted to me and which I also treasure, albeit for different reasons.

“Be kind, be involved, believe in your art,” he said. “At a time when people tell you art is not important, that is always the prelude to fascism. When they tell you it doesn’t matter, when they tell you a fucking app can do art you say, if it’s that important, why the fuck do they want it so bad? The answer is because they think they can debase everything that makes us a little better, a little more human. And that, in my book, and in my life, includes monsters.”

Bertie has been reminding me since 7am that today is the day that I need to get to Mud Bay and acquire a new "Tha Bird" toy or I'll be hearing about periodically it all day.

I thought they typically went door-to-door. Next thing you know they'll be coming up our rivers in their Science Longboats and razing our villages!

No frog patrol again this week. Too cold and dry. It's normal for most weeks in January to be too cold &/or dry for frog shuttle shifts. In not too much longer we'll be down at the river helping them make the trek across Hwy 30 back up into the west hills.

I was so happy to see an exhibit of Rick Bartow's work at PAM. I'll be visiting them again, especially the *inhabited* ones. His work is amazing, and I love it so much that I will get on a near stranger's thread to crow about it. So. Good.

In 2026: Generative AI is not inevitable. You can say no. You can refuse. You can reject the disgusting lukewarm slop that the richest and worst people in the world are trying to force-feed you. You can tell them to eat shit and die mad. You can break the machine

I think the juxtaposition of the frog and the lawsuits is itself so key. it’s a multi-pronged approach. we all do what we can do in our own little corner. churches and businesses are organizing to fight the ICE grabs that are still happening. protesters are still out. the whole city said no

My path brings me back to two pieces I made long ago, one a talisman pertaining to some internal work I am taking a turn through again & another made when I was doing (hot) silversmithing, a ring with intricately pierced stag beetles. It fits me. Beautiful self-reminders of who I am & what I can do.

More people are turning to over-the-counter birth control pills - Scienceline The first over-the-counter birth control in the US has expanded contraception access to people who may not have had it before.

Good news: A new study shows that over-the-counter birth control pills are reaching the very people they’re meant to help: people who are uninsured, in rural areas, or in states with abortion bans.

& then of course there's The Thing That Was In the Basement for 2 1/2 Years (black pepper blackcurrant wine with a hint of smoky black cardamom) to deal with in the next week or so. Time to bottle up The Thing.

a multifloral metheglin.
Gotta do a traditional, though, and keep it plain- I always get a wild urge to throw somethingorother in, and I forget how much I like a good old traditional, especially with a fave honey.

Planning the late winter mead batches, I already have fix'ins (that's a technical term) for another round of Bitter Darkness. That pomegranate and blackcurrant fiend was well liked, so I'll be making more.
Also up: plum melomel made with fruit from a dear friend's tree, and potentially 1/
