Hi, yes! FINDING RENÉE RICHARDS, out in August, is a biography of Renée, a trans woman who successfully sued for her right to play pro tennis in the ’70s
Gabriel, it's a good book, very thorough, and runs a ton of different tangents. Went into that more in Feb. than the Mar. rendition: medium.com/@bryan-s-har...
Loved the February post the most! Thank you so much for reading and writing about the book!
ICYMI: I spoke with @pjsauer.bsky.social of @the2ndserve.bsky.social about eliminating second serves (and my new book, Tennis Tensions: Class, Race and Gender in the Evolution of the Sport).
Very cool and unique to read someone’s thoughts about your book while they are still reading it, since most reviews are written after they have finished. Thanks for highlighting Tennis Tensions in January, February and March, Bryan! (And also for mentioning it in your Q&A with Jack Bedell.)
Long live Hip Hop!
I wrote for @slate.com about the new IOC sex testing policy and the intersex women directly targeted by it
Thoroughly enjoyed talking all things tennis with Patrick for over an hour. Excellent interviewer and lover of the game 🎾🏸
"It’s the privileged upper-class perspective that’s shaped the narrative, rules, and etiquette since lawn tennis was introduced in 1874 by Major Walter Clopton Wingfield." - @gabrielallen.bsky.social in conversation with @pjsauer.bsky.social

For @brendanomeara.bsky.social's "Pitch Club," I broke down my pitch for my Grantland Marvin Gaye feature and shared my mindset on pitching.
The biggest thing: Learn not to care about hearing "no." If you love a story, an editor somewhere will. welcometopitchclub.substack.com/p/pete-croat...
I penned this about Arthur Fils quicker than quick return to a Tour final for @the2ndserve.bsky.social www.thesecondserve.com/arthur-fils-...
If money is tight and you want to buy my book, Amazon has it on sale for $8.00. There's one hardcover left.
And to balance the cosmos, if you buy the hardcover and show me a receipt, I'll make a $10 donation to Droppin' Dimes, the ABA charity.
Honored to have been included in this post about what @bryanharvey.bsky.social has been reading to begin the new year. Thanks for reading, and for the kind and encouraging blurb about my book, Bryan!
Profoundly thankful to @pjsauer.bsky.social for his riveting review & resounding recommendation of Tennis Tensions! a.co/d/0fDKYAZ7
Grateful to David Shaftel, co-founder & editor of @the2ndserve.bsky.social & Open Tennis Magazine, for his ringing endorsement of Tennis Tensions!
The book "Tennis Tensions/ Class, Race, and Gender In The Evolution of the Sport" Have a wonder why the players at Wimbledon are required to wear white? That and so much more in for anyone that is interested in tennis, and perhaps those that are not. The ideas are transferable to other sports and aspects of life.
"Australian tennis player Destanee Aiava has announced her retirement, labeling the sport’s culture as “racist, misogynistic, homophobic and hostile to anyone who doesn’t fit the mould,” posted on social media."
