Not to mention that soldiers who are sick in bed with a high fever are not combat-ready. This is dangerous for national security.

Nothing has killed more soldiers in the history of humanity than disease. While worst is a more complicated question Hegseth is absolutely the dumbest secretary of defense the United States has ever had. bsky.app/profile/ones...

YES! Influenza killed almost as many American troops in WW1 as were killed in combat.

Not to mention the little issue that soldiers with influenza can’t be combat-ready if they are incapacitated in bed with a high fever.

Hegseth is an idiot. www.nationalguard.mil/News/Article...

Yes! My father walked two miles a day for health reasons. One summer he decided that he did enough walking around doing his yard work and stopped doing it for a few months. When he tried going for a walk again at the end of the summer, he was shocked at how much more difficult it had become.

Yes! It seems that a good rule of thumb is to budget for $1000 a month for maintenance costs, and most people really don’t understand that. So much stuff isn’t done correctly and needs to be remediated. You can’t budget as though you are living in a perfect world.

It’s honestly maddening. We need to have a “life skills” course in like 9th grade explaining building science and all sorts of other important adulting skills. Maybe explaining how your house works will turn people on to science and engineering, and make “unskilled” construction labor more skilled.

This is like a bad game of telephone with very high stakes. I just despise people inaccurately quoting other people.

(Unless it is Hegseth quoting Pulp Fiction thinking it is the Bible 🤣🤣🤣)

Yep. Keep the water away from the house and you will have a dry basement. Funny how that works!

I hate these guys who tell you to put in a sump pump when the problem is grading or drainage. Fix the water problem outside first, if you can! Only if you can’t should you resort to a sump pump.

Like, we know that the water table is 60’ down because we had a well dug.

The house is built on a hill facing south, and the grade on the west side of the house is flat rather than angled away from the house.

This is just simple physics and logic, people.

Just had an argument with my husband that we need to regrade around the west side of the house and swale the south side of the house because we are getting water in the basement.

He insists that we just need a sump pump because there is water under the basement floor.

How did it get there, man?

Only US Votes Against Women’s Rights Document At UN Commission - Health Policy Watch President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock told the opening of CSW that the backlash against women's rights "feels as though we are forced to

For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone “no” vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.

Yep. My husband and I had talked about getting an EV for a long time, but it took Trump attacking Iran to get us to finally pull the trigger. And we bought not just one EV, but TWO of them, and are putting solar panels up for the second time.

In 2 yrs I have one good friend who developed myasthenia gravis and a colleague who needed a kidney transplant after developing kidney disease her second covid infection. Both were previously healthy women in early middle age. Coincidence? Maybe. But this seems really weirdly coincidental to Covid.

“Medical institutions must educate staff that Long COVID is a disabling condition affecting up to 40% of healthcare workers who contracted and continue to contract COVID-19 while working in hospitals that have failed to control the spread of the virus and other pathogens.”

UC Berkeley professor Kwabena Bediako under investigation for sexual harassment allegations Since the allegations were publicized, nearly every graduate and undergraduate student in the Bediako Lab has left the lab.

I'm struck by the bravery of this student and the fantastic way the union handled this allegation. What a model for all of us to follow in terms of how to show up for our members.

Posting this not to endorse conspiracy but to point out its role in the new ebbing poll numbers. His base, built on conspiracy (irony duly noted), is looking for a reason(s) to abandon him.
