ICE is bad. Deportation is bad. Immigration restriction is almost always bad. Armed masked men going into homes without warrants is so obviously villainous that the fact anyone approves it is a stain that will haunt even generous histories of our nation ever after.
I am anti-ICE.
Imagine spending an amount of money that could solve American homelessness for 3-4 years on detention centers for people who are generally busy working, renting, parenting, and paying taxes.
Let's do this.

At least we don’t have to hear Charlie Kirk’s take on this
“The chaos that ICE and the Trump administration have brought to Minneapolis made this tragedy sadly predictable,” writes Jacob Frey, the city’s mayor.
Excited to give this a listen, he was great as the thief when I got to see the show last year!
AI is cooked
sam altman tweet: i never took the dead internet theory that seriously but it seems like there are really a lot of LLM-run twitter accounts now
These guys are simply not smart.
Nobody who voted to confirm RFK is fit to hold public office
Every reputable expert I know considers mRNA vaccine technology to be one of the most revolutionary advances in medicine in our lifetimes. Its inventors won the Nobel Prize in 2023. Shutting it down now is pointless self-harm to humanity.
A thing I think we miss is that the “authoritarian playbook” isn’t a set of instructions authoritarians are reading from, it’s just a list of things that happen when narcissists get too much power.
I read EPA’s 302-page proposal to nuke the endangered endangerment finding so that you don’t have to, and wrote about what the insanity all means for @climateconnections.bsky.social. Thanks to @gregdotson.bsky.social, @hausfath.bsky.social, @michaelemann.bsky.social for the input. Article & 🧵(1/14):
It is perfectly acceptable to begin a sentence with ‘and.’
And it’s equally acceptable to begin a sentence with ‘but’ or ‘or.’

“Across the world, we’ve seen democracy in retreat,” writes A.G. Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times. “This anti-press playbook is now being used here in this country — and it could not come at a more difficult time for the American press.”
Hip Deep in Toads would be a great band name though
‘Squirrelled,’ as in “squirrelled away,” can be pronounced “SKWERLD.”
‘Squirrelled’ has 11 letters, making it the longest one-syllable word in English.
One other thing about Empire Strikes Back that is obviously but has grown noticeable with time is there's no fan service. The service for fans is that the movie doesn't suck. I wonder if part of the problem with newer stuff is the series became canonical.
It's true a chimp can rip your arm off, and that's largely why our ancient ancestors kicked us out of the trees for being such weaklings. And then, through a series of events involving tool use and fire we, and you'll never believe this, took over the entire globe.
In the 90s, I genuinely thought the Internet would cure loneliness. But it turns out that for me anyway the Internet addresses loneliness the way alcohol addresses anxiety.
I love that for you!!
Here's some clips from the girlies' first time playing REPO lovingly put together by @mckayart.bsky.social. I'm gonna come outta twitch retirement just for this game 😂
I've been watching some folks play this and it looks extremely silly. I did get the game but haven't played past the tutorial yet 😅
Fully on board with dems running for office promising to reinstate fired federal employees and jail this administration’s various criminals, but let’s go ahead and add “we will seize by eminent domain any national parkland sold to developers”
