After what happened in Canada, where ditching the unpopular PM resulted in the Liberals holding Ottawa, are there any Labour MPs, like Burnham or even a resurrected Milliband bro, who could serve as the fresh blood to get them back to their July 2024 numbers?

The term "banger" can apply to any genre, but should only be used for songs featuring a) loud, clangy drums; b) fast tempos; and c) shouty vocals. If we're going to employ onomatopoeia as compliment, I want that song to damn well live up to it! (like this from Master Peace) youtu.be/NmmVkO4QLSw?...

The horrible Fidesz party of Putinesque losers led by Orban, who looks like a melting Trump candle, didn't help themselves with dumb AF billboards like these. Also, that Is not how you spell "Mamdani", you losers🤣!

Nice! I saw the Minneapolis date of that same tour at the 7th Street Entry, thanks to intel from Ben from Band of Horses. It was wild how pin-drop quiet everyone was for Fleet Foxes when they did their a capella breakdown for (i think) "Mykonos"

We need a word for that bizarre feeling when you see a Top 10 list (in this case, 9) where you could confidently sing every note from all them by memory except for this one oddball song you've never ever even heard of, let alone heard (Colonel Abrams?)

The fact that the organizers are choosing Fridays (the most important day for restaurants and small businesses) instead of, say, a Tuesday or Wednesday, makes me wonder if they have ulterior motives completely unrelated to ICE. As in, opposition to restaurants or small biz *existing at all*.

It’s easy to forget since he’s still a high public official but Homan straight up took $50,000 in cash from undercover agents on camera and then nothing happened

Great article! Sadly, I'm not surprised that the same loser men who gave us bilge like "Try That In A Small Town" - all while licking the boots of the billionaires who destroyed their small town - are totally silent, if they aren't already cheering on the Rapist-In-Chief's murder of civilians.

Even if these agents opened fire on protestors at random, solely because they dared to stand on the sidewalk, these same simps for the regime would find a way to justify the murders.

It's great that notable content creator Barack Obama finally acknowledged the horrific state-sponsored murders in Minneapolis, but a man of his status should have far more to offer the anti-fascism effort than weak-sauce statements, followed by a semi-annual list of Best Beach Reads and Summer Jams

Last year a whistleblower said DOGE had illegally accessed a Social Security database. SSA now acknowledges it's true—& that DOGE employees had secret agreement w/ unidentified political advocacy group to use SocSec data to help overturn election results. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Katie's "Breaking The Glass Ceiling" vocal affectations, especially at the "Brett Coyote" book release party, are so funny that Carla Gallo deserves an Emmy nod just for that! Here's hoping Delbanco & Stoller have a few more series in them, after this and the also-hilarious "Friends From College"

This event is easy fodder for Dem campaign ads - "The Repubs spent your tax $ to honor a bigot who said [insert insanely hateful CK quote] while our bridges crumble and healthcare/firefighter/education/road budgets get slashed - call [elected official] and demand they put your $ where it is needed!"

One of my favorite things about baseball is how it's 150+ year history of being a major sport means that major events from, say, the '70s (turf, Reggie/Fisk homers) seem relatively recent, whereas in basketball or football, events of similar impact ('72 Dolphins, ABA) feel like eons ago

Wow! While it's not quite as wild as Garry Templeton eclipsing 100 hits from both sides of the plate in 1979 (which might possibly have inspired the Smashing Pumpkins song of that title), it tops Khris Davis hitting .247 for 4 (or Mickey Tettleton having 211 at bats for 3) consecutive years

In an era where convenience has leaped past actual drugs as our favorite drug, how do we convince ordinary people to not view AI/ChatGPT with a similar level of authority as past generations did with encyclopedias? How do we stop humanity from hammering down the gas pedal on societal brain-rot?

True. And this Leeds-based band Eevah is the SVE/Wolf Alice union we all need right now (especially for the poor bastards forced to face the Tigers' starting pitchers). The combo of ethereality & heaviness, a scream-along chorus, plus a bridge from another galaxy open.spotify.com/track/6RNyHW...

"Your own government could kidnap you at any time for whatever reason they feel like making up that week" is a pretty powerful instigator of public outcry, and if you are an elected official who is too lazy or scared to make a big deal out of this, you should quit politics because you suck!

every year on patriots' day we commemorate the “here comes the pizza” incident from 2007, in which don orsillo and the late great jerry remy grow increasingly deranged trying to understand the motives of the man who hurled a slice of pizza at a guy attempting to catch a foul ball

The Gates of Delirium (2003 Remaster)
The Gates of Delirium (2003 Remaster) YouTube video by Yes - Topic

Gotta love a Dem who (accidentally) quotes the opening lyrics for Yes's "The Gates of Delirium"!
Maybe later in the speech, we get
"Peaceful lives will not deliver freedom, fighting we know/
Destroy oppression, the point to reaction" youtu.be/E8MPNOqYpWs?...

Dems, instead of caving to right-wing BS, whenever a dumbfuck Repub during a debate throws "men are infiltrating women's sports" shite at you, reply with this:
"If you care so much, name 5 current professional women athletes, other than the few in commercials during men's games."
They won't!

Could any wealthy liberals, instead of trying to run quixotic presidential campaigns, craft some pump & dump scheme to cause the crypto market to unmercifully crash? They could essentially stop right-wing jagoff crypto bros from being able to buy future elections - talk about a worthy investment!

While reading "Nöthin' But a Good Time", the highly-entertaining oral history of hair metal, it hit me that
the bands were totally unaware of how rap was already pushing their genre out of the center of youth culture. Nirvana & Co just finished the job began by N.W.A & Digital Underground.

While many of us have met people with the 10.0 names of Tim, Gay without the ?, Aja, and Abbey (if we are allowing partials), I failed all of us when I was unable to convince my friend with the last name Colling to name her son "London"

Nice! I have Slipknot's "People = Shit" in my Top 10 (you can't argue with math!), as the rapid turns in their sonic assault got almost damn-near Prog Metal (shh...don't tell anyone!)
