I used Bjorntall's liripipe pattern last time, but I've had this one in my pattern archive for a couple of years and wanted to try it. My friend, who's a sewing newbie, wants to use the dagging extension, so I figured I'd try out the vanilla version first.

A sewing table with the outer and lining of a medieval hood/cowl laid out on it. The left-hand fabric is a mix of brown flecks, while the right-hand fabric is a chocolate brown linen. On top of the pieces are a pair of metal scissors, two spools of linen thread, and a skein of oatmeal-colored wool yarn.
A taped-together pattern (by Opus Elenae, go give them money) for a medieval hood, pinned to a large piece of brown wool.
Saturday is Robin Hood Medieval Faire's first rehearsal, and it's looking to be a wee bit chilly. So I'm going to try to bang out a new hood for Tuck this week.
(The pattern is by @opuselenae.bsky.social, with a little extra head pitch and no tail for that Franciscan look.)
The costumes in that film were off the charts.
One of the distinct characteristics of the capuchinbird is its call, which has been described as similar to a distant chainsaw, or a calf mooing.
Note the inflating air sacs along the throat.
Commenters have compared it to Owen Wilson's "wow." 😁
Proposed: we rename it to the owenwilsonbird.

Baking set to opera. Found this weirdly satisfying.
Gonna take a quick nap while the upstairs cools off. I'll work late if I have to.
Why did it have to be this week for a heat wave, when I need to be in my un-air conditioned upstairs workroom to meet a deadline?
commissions are open!
Movie still. A beautiful blonde white woman with curly hair in a low ponytail stands in a gilded palace room. She’s dressed in a blue French Revolution era men’s military coat with a wide white lace neckpiece
Movie still. The woman from the previous photo stands in front of a window and looks at Marie Antoinette, with her powder white tail wig and silk dress and feather fan.
Movie still. The women from the previous photos are outside in a grand garden. The first, Oscar, is kissing Marie’s hand.
Movie still. Same scene as previous photo. Just after the hand kiss, the two look at each other in a kind of shock.
I fear LADY OSCAR (dir. Jacques Demy, 1979) has permanently altered my brain chemistry
AI slop. How many labels can be added to an image? And where's the joke?
This should be a no-brainer. For Christ's sake STOP Posting obvious AI-generated political cartoons! Bluesky is awash in this shit these days. There are tons of real live human political cartoonists here, posting terrific work. Repost those.
If you're unclear, here's how to spot AI slop:
That's our sister show! The doublets that I'm making are for some lads who have an act at that show (they play Robin Hood, Little John, and the Sheriff of Nottingham at the spring show).

April 14, feast day of Saint Lidwina, a 14th century Dutch mystic. Aged 15 she fell and broke a rib ice skating, causing her paralysis and chronic pain.
Lidwina turned to God in her suffering, practicing intense fasting & prayer. She is remembered as the patron saint of ice skating & chronic pain.
Terrible form for the Mother of God. Footwork nonexistent. No power in the straight right.
I'm one of those trans women. I worked ground ops for Artemis I.
I am torn between celebrating the success of my friends and peers and grieving how my dream of working for NASA was shattered by hateful assholes in Tallahassee
That doesn't contradict anything I said, Vanessa.
bad news everybody: it works exactly as i thought it would and i'm gonna make it everyone's problem
A worker died at an Amazon warehouse in Oregon last week.
For more than an hour, workers were instructed to continue working as the man lay dead.
One worker wanted to help, but a manager told them to “Just turn around and not look. Let’s get back to work," according to @thewesternedge.bsky.social.
A digital drawing of a hairless domesticated rat with a miniature purple toy keyboard with rainbow and white keys. There are rainbow music notes around him and he’s tapping his feet and tail (implied to be dancing). The drawing is a reference to an image dated April 13, 2006, titled “Neil Banging out the tunes”. The drawing is signed Crayonmutt.
Happy Neil Day!
A photo of Neil banging out the tunes was taken 20 years ago today!
