It’s not that he was thinking about buying a jet, and now realizes that would be a bad idea. It’s that he bought a jet, and now wishes he hadn’t, so he wants to sell it as fast as he can to make the problem go away.
But sure. He’ll stand up to Trump. www.readtheline.ca/p/matt-gurne...
I wish I was asleep.

Opinion: Calling Mark Carney "badly educated" seems like a weird coping mechanism from Pierre Poilievre and Andrew Scheer, writes @mattgurney.bsky.social.
It's a fun way to make a living. But it can be a painfully hard habit to break.
Check out his piece here. No paywall. Enjoy.

But I guarantee you that I wonder how I'll ever be able to retire after 40 or 50 years of getting up every day knowing from the outset exactly what I have to produce by exactly what time ... and actually kind of LOVING that. Thriving with that.
Media jobs, to be clear, are usually not dangerous. But they are intensely pressurized, with inflexible deadlines and all your errors and failures being public. It took me years to realize what I was experiencing. I'm glad I did early, and relatively quickly.
A few years ago, I began to notice that I was struggling to enjoy myself on vacations. Especially long ones. A weekend? No problem. A long weekend? Great! But a week off? Or two? I'd have an amazing first few days and then I'd start getting cranky and anxious
Stress withdrawal.
This piece for The Line by Kevin Newman is WILDLY different than what we'd normally run, but we had to run it when he offered it to us. I cannot tell you how this hit me emotionally. He's describing his own arrival at a place I feel myself going.
"I understand that a convention is more about emotions than facts. It’s important to get the faithful riled up and excited. Sometimes, however, it’s also crucial to touch base with consensus reality."

Prime Minister Mark Carney with Liberal MPs Marilyn Gladu and Evan Solomon
If I travelled through time to the year 2016 and told 2016 Me that this would be what the Liberal Government will look like in the year 2026, I would ask 2026 Me if I was high on shrooms
"One of the only things I can see out there that actually reliably forces us to take action to fix problems is the president of the United States. Or at least the fear of him. And that’s really bad."
I wrote another one! About courtroom delays. Will go live next week.
The year is 2447. Nanobot swarms wage endless war with nadion bursts and EMPs in the toxic skies of a world once known as Earth, as they have since The Flaying.
From its redoubt on Titan, Canada's government-in-exile announces it is still reviewing the F-35 purchase.

I wish we had more like him.
We'd have an easier time engaging with them if we had politicians willing to stick with them.
(Oh, I'll also include this one — it's one of the ones Chad screen capped, but he didn't send a link for it.)

I left out a bunch of ones about the military, since you said those would disappoint you. But there's a bunch.
I've also excluded about a dozen primal screams about the Crosstown specifically, as that's almost too easy.
Anyway, enjoy.
This one is basically resolved now but it certainly backs up my contention that I've been on the beat for a while
