max veil evil 4

ill prob keep it simple for now with like the same mechanics the fps game had, except replacing the leening buttons for like punches or jabs to finish off enemies lol. i do wanna expand on an upgrade system ร la resident evil 4 merchant
oh yee its been in my wishlist for a minute, i'll prob get to it some day
this is getting somewhere lol
Max payne veil
(I'll see where I go with this, but chap 2/part 2 might play more like a janky resi 4/max payne, that's the big idea i wanted to try, if it gets too complicated i'll revert it back to an fps... we'll see ๐)
i just wish i could not rely on that to stay locked into creating stuff. it's like when my life's uneventful, i tend to just sit there, happy and do nothing but enjoy things outside of work. it's great, but i'm also sad that i feel like i'm wasting precious time always chilling in a way lol
yeah going thru shit in life really helps you locking in on your art as a whole lol, borderlining homelessness, getting played by girls and the stress of getting a stable income rly helped me finish a video game, same goes with music, gym, anything else really
Bone Fire Effigy's out now with a 35% introductory offer!

anyway, i'm doing great, not depressed or anything, not a rant either.. just an observation i thought about just now while sitting on the toilet LOL.
wonder how other folks feel about that because coming from music, it just popped out to me as the same feelings that made me lose interest in it
one thing i find eternally crazy about games is that even for a shitposty looking game, or an rpg maker game where the entire codebase's set for you to use.. it's still as long and rough of a process overall. i used to think ms paint art and rough visuals would make it go faster, boyyyy it didn't
havong to start from scratch all over again for the second part of my game is also daunting, i wish i could remember what i did 2 years ago to push through that initial dazed state and actually be passionate to work on it.. game dev is so damn hard man, i'll never speak ill of any games ever again ๐ช
it's always when i have loads of free time that i end up not doing shit with my day except walking the dog, watching animes and playing games. insane how the less time i'll have to do something, the more i wanna have it. but when i do get that extra time i just waste it like crazy lol

what once was
i will make it shorter than part 1 overall for my own sanity, im confident i can wrap it up nicely with less time. the few things i tried out so far are already making it feel like a sequel imo lol, not too sure about the direction i decided to settle on w the writing, but fuck it, lets try it
abyss veil part 2 now in dev.. no more big chapter 1 updates as i'll just focus on getting done with this game for GOOD
i kinda just have the beginning and end of part 2 writing wise
pt 2 is chapter 2/3/4 put together as it jus makes more sense
now i need to build this thing lol, see u in 60 yrs
ABYSS VEIL PICO 8
A little sales shout-out to Abyss Veil. Raw, low-fi, madly ambitious psychological sci-fi/visual novel hybrid. MSpaint art, chunky polygons, wonky combat. Also 10+ hours even at just episode 1 of 4.
But it feels like it's really trying something. And kinda does it? Genuinely feels like outsider art
It'll take time but I've improved a little at this game dev thingy since, It lowkey feels like a sequel lol
In a time where we got devs swear they need genAI to make games competitive with big budget titles, this game feels like an antithesis to that thought.
It does so much with nothing but love. That sort of raw you only get from a singular vision. I'm legit excited for the next episode.
Thank you so much for the shoutout Dominic, appreciate you a lot, hope you find some more awesome indie oddities during this sale!!!
Thank you so much Vladimere!! It means a lot to me and coming from you 2 <3
new update adding voice lines for most factions, some adjusments here and there and some new little things throughout the game

u are amazing at this ersatz, im still in awe at that first pic
Yeah i absolutely adored the apocalyptic raccoon city industrial vibes they went for, great atmosphere, it'll grow on people
Abyss Veil is still 25% off for like 24 hours
I hate posting about it all the time without something to give in return, so here's a funny refund notes compilation
actually won't have time to work on the game for a while probably, so heck it.. here it is! store.steampowered.com/news/app/366...
alright ig its done for now, i'll prob post the update this week.. ill expand on it over time, p happy how it turned out
