Statistical pitfalls that preclinical researchers should avoid (French): Join André Gillibert to learn how to identify and avoid common statistical problems.
Evidence synthesis: Want to do a systematic review, meta-analysis or scoping review, but don't know where to start? On Friday, Corinna Dressler and @meghanforr.bsky.social discuss different types of evidence synthesis studies, share best practices and give tips for making your work reproducible.
How to write an excellent protocol - an editor's perspective: Let's talk protocol publications. Nature Protocols editors @bronwenann.bsky.social and Ivanka Kamenova, and BMC Methods editor Chiara Cilibrasi will share techniques for writing a great protocol that's easy to follow.
Preregistration: Preregistration (posting a time-stamped protocol before you start data collection) protects against questionable research practices like outcome switching or p-hacking. @denolmo.bsky.social's interactive workshop will teach you the basics. Preregister your next study with confidence
Peer reviewing: Join @jlrohmann.bsky.social and Toivo Glatz from Peerspectives for interactive exercises that will help you to think like a peer reviewer or editor when reviewing biomedical papers. Knowing what editors and peer reviewers look for will help you to write better papers.
2 days left in Love Methods Week! Join today to enhance your skills in peer reviewing methods, pre-registration and writing excellent protocols. Tomorrow, we'll discuss evidence synthesis methods and statistics. Register (www.bihealth.org/de/aktuell/l...) or catch up (osf.io/nwukx/). #LoveMethods25
Our group has been hard at work to release a new tool: The Data Rescue Tracker. The tool aims to provide a consolidated overview of who is downloading which dataset from which government websites. Please share! www.datarescueproject.org/data-rescue-...
We're delighted to have @cos.io joining Love Methods Week! Join their pre-registration workshop later today.
Love Methods Week continues Wednesday with 4 great workshops on reporting guidelines, Quarto, RRIDs (think DOIs for research supplies), and protocol writing advice from editors. Build new skills and take your methods section to the next level. #LoveMethods25

How to write an excellent protocol: an editor's perspective: Let's talk publications! Nature Protocols editors @bronwenann.bsky.social and Ivanka Kamenova, and BMC Methods editor Chiara Cilibrasi will share techniques for writing and publishing a great protocol that's easy to follow.
Add RRIDs to your paper so that readers and future you will always know what you used, even if catalog numbers change, the company adds similar products, or is sold to another supplier. The RRID portal also tells you whether your cell line is contaminated or from a patient who was misdiagnosed.
Research Resource Identifiers (RRIDs) are unique, persistent identifiers for key materials (antibodies, cell lines, model organisms, plasmids, software and tools - think DOIs for research supplies). Anita Bandrowski from @rrids.bsky.social will help you to look up or create RRIDs for your materials.
Quarto for reproducible manuscripts: Vladislav Nachev will share strategies for using Quarto to integrate computational methods, figure and tables into your manuscript. Apply what you've learned to your own research, or practice on an example project.
Reporting guidelines are required by journals everywhere. Following guidelines when you write improves your paper and saves time. Join @renebernard.bsky.social and I for an interactive workshop. Use reporting guidelines to improve you methods section, or planning guidelines to improve your design.

@drejpearl.bsky.social from @nc3rs.bsky.social will demonstrate how researchers can use the free Experimental Design Assistant tool to improve their study design and statistical analysis plan for preclinical animal studies.
@nafisajadavji.bsky.social from @repro4everyone.bsky.social will offer a workshop on tools and strategies to improve your methods sections.
Caroline Shamu, Vivian Siegel and Marisa Rosa from @bio-protocol.bsky.social will help you to transform your lab notes into lab protocols.
How to use shortcut citations responsibly: Researchers often cite another resource instead of fully describing their methods. I'll discuss the problems with this approach, outline 3 criteria that shortcut citations should meet, and discuss what to do if a resource doesn't meet these criteria.
Methods are one of the most valuable outputs that researchers create; yet research papers are often missing details needed to implement a method. Joining today's Love Methods Week sessions to take the first step towards improving your methods. www.bihealth.org/de/aktuell/l...
