It's probably naive, but I have to think there's a way to help the people of Iran self-govern without killing schools full of children.

I'm at the point where I automatically distrust people flying an American flag on their house or their car.

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

A system that gets away with all this should collapse.

It’s so funny to think about the fact that there’s people out there deferring every life decision to this

I hate this phrase. "Underage women." That's not a thing. They were girls. Children.

No, they aren't. They said they were winding down Operation Catch of the Day in Maine but they're still here, still detaining people. They'll stay in Minnesota, too.

So many people I know are like "only three more years before we can vote this fucker out of office" and I cannot seem to get them to understand that they don't intend to let us vote.

Chadwick Boseman and James van der Beek both died in their 40s of an illness that's treatable if a colonoscopy catches it but almost no insurer covers them for people under 45, this is what Engels meant by "social murder"

The woman across the way is trying to remove the ice from her roof with a hose.

This is not a good way to try and survive a Maine winter.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

I knew going into this that the Seahawks were going to win, but apparently my mother didn't and as a Pats fan, let me just say she is not having a good time.

The vibes in here are not great.

But the kids were like, just hold on- and they were right! And now I’m interested to see how many white people are saying a bunch of (underpaid and overworked brown and black) workers in (hot miserable) fields doing (backbreaking exploitative) work is not that political.

So many Latinos both in their homelands and in the US have relationship w nature through worker exploitation. I don’t know bad bunny well, so honestly when the opening shots came and I see workers in fields? I was about to get pissed. oh are we about to get happy farm labor songs at the superbowl?

As a former migrant worker (not even a teenager at the time)- it’s important to notice what they’re all doing as he’s being people together thru song. They’re emerging from the fields, in solidarity. And the fields are no longer a place of exploitation/violence but *nature* supporting her people.

I think the ‘less obvious’ politics here is that the entire thing started off with workers in the fields and ended with community dancing and emerging in solidarity from the fields. I think it’s beautiful that he named every country and all the peoples voices rising up- AND-

It was transforming the biggest NFL stage in the world into a sugar cane plantation that did it for me.

Like, the multiple layers of turning an American icon into a plantation and highlighting the history of exploitation of Black and Brown bodies by the NFL and American colonialism simultaneously?
