I'm also puzzled by the work that can't be done while waiting at the airport. We aren't all adult film editors - most of us can research or code or whatever with our cushion. Also you lose a lot of time if you miss a flight!

Based on the median state we really should be talking about the possibility of revival.

It brings me no joy to say, but it would be a personal AI device. I don't want one but I may be forced to get one and few companies are better at privacy and device design than Apple. Please - otherwise I'll have to buy one from Amazon or Meta.

Rick Moranis coming out of retirement to make Spaceballs 2 should be bigger news than it is imo

I do think when it came out it had high minimum requirements too - but soon those stats were common so it morphed into running with everything maxed.

Controversial opinion, but I don't think anyone who loves computers would refer to circuit boards as "lowly."

These obviously look dumb as hell. Unfortunately if you are paying attention to how people use llms and their popularity, I'd wager good money that we are about to enter a dumb as hell era. So actually this is perfectly designed.

Not really the point, but that first sentence is quite the journey to parse. In the end I guess you can write like that? But it feels like you should be issued a yellow card foul and ejected after your third instance

My solution for this problem is that I just drove my car through my living room wall. Best of both worlds IMO. We also got a wonderful cross breeze in the summer at a less wonderful cross breeze in the winter.

I think most of the other people are largely correct, but I just wanted to say that I'd argue it represents good optimization. It wouldn't make sense to tune your app for less than 1% of your users, so the fact that it ran more efficiently under Max settings speaks well of them

It also seems like it could be as simple as enumerating the strengths of the advertised brand and claiming to know nothing about those qualities of other brands. Feels like a new kind of fresh hell.

the part where you never see it is what gets me. traditional ads at least had the decency to be annoying. this is your agent quietly picking restaurant B over A and you never find out why

This isn't a new or novel observation but AI advertising is going to (or may already be) be so much worse than other ads. Because you won't see ads - the agent will just have secret instructions that some brands are better than others.

I fully agree - I think when people talk about "challenging" people they mostly mean "engaging" people. Engagement can be challenging, but it can be lots of other things too. Success looks like people growing or reflecting on their understandings, which often isn't threatening to identity.

I think the wild thing is that there's nothing grandiose about it. It's a tiny movie. It just has an incredible script and incredible performances. It's a good reminder that you can make timeless stuff with just the basics.

Prior to the Ukraine war the US had run through their magazines pretty slowly. Weapons have shelf lives and they calibrate orders to match expected use.

That said, procurement is ~20% of the budget. ~63% is personal and maintenance. The rest is r&d and other assorted things.
