Ahahaah this is comedy! Also won't link to it, but OMG that post is pure mental gymnastic in "this is exactly what I was proposing! see, I was right" in the middle of the bandwagon jump :)
1) you're more attuned to how they work and can spot stupid stuff easier
2) rumors abound that all providers distill their older models when preparing to publish a new one, to (a) free up some HW resources for the newest, with the happy side effect of (b) new model seeming way smarter than old

Gradski IT 2025 wrapped!
That's a nice one! A bit hard to read, perhaps :)

graffiti ad for dry cleaning place: "Can AI do Laundry & Dry Cleaning?" "No, but we can!"
I confess I have very little knowledge of the field. This will be a learning opportunity for me! Especially the expressive power of the mutation framework (there are a few for Python that I'll look into) vs what AI can come up with.
I wrote up my experience with using mutation testing for catching bad, smelly, LLM-written tests: blog.senko.net/improving-ai...
Turns out, it's really useful and easy to do.
Turns out mutation testing is effective for making sure LLM-written tests actually do something useful.
It does need a separate prompt to point out areas for improvement or character flaws, otherwise it's just too positive :)
This is a fun and useful tool!
1) drives home the fact that once you publish something, it's there, there's no going back, no matter what legions of GDPR legalists tell you
2) interesting to see how the writing is perceived from a neutral party, might highlight some aspects one is not aware of
This has been happening for a while.
I have a copy of Hacker's Delight, full of fascinating things I'll never need in my software development career: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker%...
Not to mention a few volumes of TAOCP, which I fully plan to read one day...

I've used the walkthrough pattern recently to walk me through a 7k line PR (in several commits, but still...) that I did with CC a few weeks ago.
I wanted to do a proper review and the walkthrough "eased me in" and oriented me from where to start looking.
I was curious about the sources, found it here: www.reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA...
Tried to reproduce, works great for "what model are you" in Chinese. But "what is your name" reports differently - as "ChatGPT" 🤣
Code reviews don't scale when you have thousands of lines of code built daily. We need to rethink them in the age of AI.
I posted some of my thoughts about it here: senkorasic.com/articles/ret...

I love the "velocity without understanding is not sustainable" line from Mary-Anne's post. Pithy, accurate, and actionable: don't go faster than you can understand.
Ever wondered what that helpful "curl | bash" installer actually does?
Paste it into curl-bash-explain.dev and find out!
